Lonoke County Sheriff's Office was searching for a wanted criminal on Friday and observed a black dodge pickup near Pine Street (hwy 89) and Mt. Carmel (hwy 321) turn on flashing green, amber and red lights with a siren.
According to Lonoke County SO (LCSO), the dodge was directly in front of the detectives unmarked vehicle and the Sheriff. The dodge pickup had markings stating K9 and traveled in the center turn lane at speeds reaching 90mph. Detectives and the Sheriff activated their emergency lights and sirens and got the vehicle stopped near Pine and Francis Street. Upon contact, the driver was dressed in a similar fashion as Lonoke County sheriff's detectives with a similar style badge. The driver identified as Jeremy Kurck 37 of Jacksonville, identified himself as a lonoke county process server.
Upon further investigation the detectives learned the truck was outfitted with police type equipment i.e. an AWIN portable radio, mobile radar, mobile video and other items such as a taser, pepper spray, baton and handcuffs. Kurck has a criminal history, he was arrested and will be charged with criminal impersonation D felony, Criminal use of prohibited weapon D felony, Speeding 90 in a 45, Reckless driving, Improper passing, Improper use of turn lane. He is being held at the Lonoke County Sheriff's Detention Center no bond until first appearance.
Sheriff Staley and the deputies take this type of action very seriously and will always work hard to keep the citizens safe.
