What are your favorite books to read around Christmastime?

My two favorites are Letters from Father Christmas by Tolkien and The Legend of Holly Claus by Brittany Ryan. Both feel so cozy and comforting to me!

The collection of letters from Tolkien has one of my favorite book dedications that I’ve ever read:

🎄 “Well here comes Christmas! That astonishing thing that no ‘commercialism’ can defile — unless we let it.” 🎄

Feels like the perfect reminder every time I read it.

What plans have you made lately?

We’re always making them. Plans that are neat and ordered, that make the future feel certain and secure.

But what about when those plans get derailed? What about when the future we thought was decided changes course completely?

A year ago, my plan for 21:25 Books was on track. Or, at least, it was on the track I thought was best.

It felt like flourishing, but it was actually something less than that, and God was kind enough to upend my version of the dream and give me His.

So, what does 21:25 Books look like right now?

21:25 Books looks like a new website under construction.

Like a reminder that true flourishing comes from God’s version of the dream.

It looks like a space to share fantasy stories that glorify God and the good things He does and to celebrate fellow authors who are doing the same.

Like holding on to the truth that every word on every page of every story we ever write comes from Him, only flourishes through Him, and is all for Him — for His glory, for all time. (Romans 11:36)

21:25 Books looks like a home for readers and writers who want to see the whole world filled with good books about God.

Many new and exciting things are coming soon, and I’m excited to share them with you!

Another day with pen in hand & a cup of tea close by 🫖

In closing my shop, one thing I've realized is what my true passion is.

While it was so much fun designing bookmarks and things for the shop, I realized that I can actually step away from doing that without a problem.

But I could never step away from writing the stories God has called me to so easily. Writing has purpose for me. It draws me closer to God, and I hope every story He gives me encourages those who read it.

That as they turn the pages, they get a fresh glimpse of His heart for us and the absolute wonder of who He is.

Writing again after months of only sporadically doing so feels like regaining my passion, creative energy, and closeness with God.

All this to say, that if you feel like you've gotten a bit off track lately, ask God to show you what draws you closest to Him & don't wait to follow Him there.

This season of life is really busy! I'm finishing wedding planning, transitioning to a new website, & working on my next story.

If I'm slow to respond to comments (I likely will be), please know that I will answer - it just might take me a little while!

Today, I'm sitting at my kitchen table, and a story is brewing.

In it, a young woman's refuge is exposed as illusion, a thief is blind to his own loss, and an angel fights for the soul of the Beloved.

Scene by scene, this tale is taking shape, an epic fantasy that sprawls across ink-born worlds and realms resisting dominion.

I'll share the story's title soon enough, but for now, I'll simply refer to this fictional world I keep disappearing into as F 🥀

A quick announcement & prayer request 💚

I'll be stepping away from social media & work for the next week. Recently, I've been dealing with a lot of stress and uncertainty when it comes to 21:25 Books.

This next week will be spent seeking after God and what he has next for the business, and I'm not sure what that will be.

If you're willing, I would really appreciate prayers for clarity, wisdom, and obedience to/peace with whatever God says.

What is the dream that God has planted in your heart?

Do you know the kind I'm talking about?

The dreams that make our hearts race with the seeming impossibility of them. The ones that we could never pull off on our own.

21:25 Books is that dream for me.

Several years ago, I asked God what was next, and His answer was John 21:25:

"Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that not even the whole world would have room for the books that would be written."

That verse speaks of wonder and a God so remarkable that not even the whole world could hold all the stories worth writing about Him.

My dream is to partner with other authors and publish their stories so that we can fill the world with good books about our remarkable God together!

21:25 Books is an online (for now) home for readers and writers, a place for us to share our love for Jesus, faith-based books, and unique bookish treasures.
