🌿 God and the Creative Process 🌿

I’ve been thinking a lot about the process of writing a story and how God inspires and enters into it.

One word that I can’t get out of my head is, ‘restoration.’

I believe God uses the creative process for our restoration, whether we’re the writers or the readers.

The right story can replenish our hearts, restore our faith, and renew our hope.

But as creators, we need to rest in order to experience the restoration that comes from writing the stories that God gives us.

That rest reminds us that it’s not our doing. That every word comes from God, an overflow of His love on our notebook pages.

And then we can pen stories that refresh people’s spirits and point them back to Jesus.

This week, I hope you take the time to rest in Him before you begin whatever creative project that God’s laid on your heart and that you experience real rest.

💬 How has God used creativity — whether through writing, art, or reading — to restore your heart? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! Let’s encourage each other in this creative journey. ✨⬇️

To Set Goals or Not to Set Goals? 📖🤔

📚 I rarely set reading goals. Every now and then, I’ll set a number for the year, but most of the time? I just read what I want, when I want because for me, reading should feel like an escape, not an assignment.

🏆 But I know some readers thrive on challenges (props to you, 100-books-a-year people! 👏)

💬 Do you set reading goals? Or do you prefer to read freely? Tell me below! ⬇️

✒️✨ WRITING UPDATE & A REMINDER ✨🖋️

As of this weekend, I’ll be 31 weeks pregnant. And you know what? I am one happy, but tired lady.

Keeping up with my writing projects and social media can be really challenging, especially on days when sleep has been elusive and all I want to do is rest.

I’m still making progress, but more slowly than I was hoping for. And that’s OK.

Sometimes, we value blasting through projects too highly. When you’re able to do that, it’s amazing, but there’s also so much worth in taking things slowly and watching them grow and flourish over a period of time.

Right now, this is a season to savor many things…

Naps on the couch and feeling our baby move and kick as she finishes growing.

The way the smell of cinnamon and citrus fills our home after putting a simmer pot on.

The joy of crafting new stories and preparing to rerelease old ones under my married name.

Life isn’t moving at a breakneck pace, and I’m realizing that’s such a gift, one that’s easy to overlook.

If that’s easy for you to lose sight of, too, or if you have a bunch of projects you feel the pressure to complete quickly, I pray this is your reminder to take a deep breath, slow down, and remember that it’s also wildly beautiful to watch things grow in God’s perfect timing 🌿🌷

P.S. The updated edition of Penelope Grace and the Winter Carousel will be available in the near future! More details coming soon!

I cannot contain my excitement over this GORGEOUS cover for book 3 in the Scorch series by Bethany Meyer!!! 😍😍😍

This is one of my all-time favorite fantasy series! If you love fantastic characters, unique world building, and all sorts of hijinks, you will absolutely love these books!

Pre-orders are officially open, so go grab your copy of Dragon Fire and Other Nonsense right now!! 🔥

BLURB:

“When you face the end, who will you become?

Wick the now-human and Archer the broken seraph awaken in a burning city, and that’s the least of their troubles.

Archer can’t manage to talk to his brother about their losses back home. His fruit drink concoctions still taste nothing like his mother’s did, and on top of it all, something in the forest seems to be hunting him down.

Wick struggles to keep his head above water, striving to help his own people and navigate increasingly complicated relationships, all while doing his best to stop Archer from spiraling.

Oh, and the dragonkin army has presented an ultimatum: surrender the Heather Stones or die.
Refugees flood the Valley of the Centaurs, taking up resources that they don’t have and asking questions that no one can answer. Wick and Archer’s enemies, old and new, crowd to their doorstep, looking for help. They have just a few weeks to prepare for battle with an enemy they hardly understand, and with no working Heather Stones left to help them, Aro is running out of options.

In the face of so much grief, is it worse to be bitter, or broken?”

Assembling My Quest Party… Who’s Coming With Me? 🏹🔥

If I were heading out on an epic adventure, these indie book legends would be right beside me:

⚔️ Wick & Archer (Robbing Centaurs and Other Bad Ideas by ) – Because chaotic genius and an unfillable bag always come in handy.

🏹 Tad (Anelthalien series by )– Fiercely loyal, brave, and just the right amount of grumpy to keep things interesting!

🔥Whimsy (The Uncertainty of Fire by ) – A fighter in her own right, bringing compassion and fierce determination.

A Tolkien shelfie because nothing says cozy like Middle-earth. 📚✨

I love decorating my bookshelves, but I don’t overthink it! I just go for warm, inviting, and cozy. 🌿🕯️ My goal? Make it feel like a hobbit hole where stories live and comfort is key. 🍃🏡

💬 Are you a “carefully curated aesthetic” type or a “throw it on the shelf and call it good” reader? 😂

Some kids played during free time… I read every book in sight. 📚✨

In kindergarten, while others built with blocks or played outside, I was lost in stories. 📖 I read every book in the classroom until there were none left, so I started bringing my own from home. That little habit turned into a lifelong love of books (and, let’s be honest, an ever-growing TBR 😂).

💬 What’s your earliest bookish memory? Share your story in the comments — I’d love to hear it! ⬇️📚✨

Some books don’t just tell a story — they change your story. 📖✨

I’m diving back into Inkspell because this book didn’t just capture my imagination; it planted the seed that made me a writer. 🌱📚 The Inkworld showed me that words have power, that they can hold entire worlds and stir hearts. It’s the reason I picked up a pen in the first place.

And now, with The Color of Revenge finally here, it’s the perfect time to revisit the story that God used to shape my own 🖋️🔥

💭 What book changed your life? Whether it made you a writer or a lifelong reader, drop the title below. I want to hear your story! ⬇️✨

Writing two fantasy worlds at once because why struggle with one book when you can struggle with two? 😂✨📖

❄️ Penelope Grace Sequel: I just finished the prologue and made some progress in the first draft! This story is cozy and faith-filled ❄️✨ Think enchanted forests, untold wonders, and a journey that promises restoration.

🌍 Epic Fantasy Adventure: Outlining chapter 12, where my characters face a MAJOR crossroads. 🛤️ This world is sprawling, full of kingdoms, divided peoples, and battles of faith. The stakes are rising, and I may need more tea to get through this one! ☕

Some days, the words flow easily. Other days, I’m just staring at my outline, waiting for my characters to tell me what to do next. Relatable? Drop a ✨ if you get it!

Now tell me — are you more of a cozy fantasy reader or an epic fantasy adventurer? Drop your team below! ⬇️❄️🔥

There’s nothing better than curling up with a good book — except maybe sharing that quiet magic. ❤️📚 My husband and I love reading together, each lost in our own story but enjoying the warmth of a cozy night in.

Now, I want to hear from you! How do you unwind with a book? Are you a solo reader, or do you have a reading buddy? Drop your favorite reading ritual below! ⬇️✨
