Government and other state board schools will reopen for the new academic session on Thursday, but for the second year in a row, students will be deprived of on-campus classes. Classes will begin virtually, but teachers are skeptical of attendance.

Teachers have been asked to follow up on students using digital means and identify the accessibility of each student to gadgets. They then must divide them into groups based on the availability of internet, phones, television, and radio. For those with no access to any of these communication means, teachers have to ask parents to identify neighbours who own such devices.

While most of the older Delta Plus cases found in India and around the world are of the AY.1 variety, scientific reports indicate that the mutant virus is further mutating into an even more dangerous form called AY.2.

This not only includes the K417N mutation in the spike protein which scientists have found to be resistant to the monoclonal antibody treatment, but also another mutation which was widely recorded in Europe last year.

According to Dr V Ravi of the Genomics Surveillance Committee, Karnataka’s one sequence originated from Mysuru and was reported to the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomic Consortia (Insacog) on June 2.

Devendra Fadnavis, when chief minister, and Union home minister Amit Shah had taken up the issue with the Karnataka CM, but the issue was not resolved. Fadnavis had taken it up with NDA government, but there was no response. Since both states were ruled by BJP, it was expected that better sense would prevail and Karnataka would concede to the demand

Patil said he felt it will be appropriate if he interacts with the Karnataka CM. “Earlier, we had a secretary-level meeting. Only dialogue will resolve the dispute. In view of annual flood-like situation in Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur districts, the CM will concede to our demand,’’ Patil said.

Several districts in north Karnataka, including Bagalkot, have not faced rains in the current monsoon season. However, now, major parts of north Karnataka are under the threat of floods. Taluks like Mudhol, Banahatti are on the brink of experiencing floods emanating from the Ghataprabha river, which is a right bank tributary of the Krishna river, and whose basin stretches across Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The threat of floods has led to the Karnataka water resources department closely monitoring the situation at Dhoopadala and Dakal reservoirs, which are built across Hiranyakeshi and Ghataprabha respectively. In order to prevent possible flooding in low-lying areas, 1200 cusecs of water is being released into the Ghataprabha left bank canal (GLBC).

Dattatreya Ramachandra Bendre is generally considered the greatest Kannada lyric poet of the 20th century and one of the greatest poets in the history of Kannada literature. A pioneering poet of Kannada's Navōdaya movement and a leading figure in the linguistic renaissance of Kannada.

Bendre forged a new path in Kannada literature and modern Kannada poetry through his original use of desi Kannada, particularly Dharwad Kannada. The richness, originality, and euphony of his poetry, his preternatural feel for the Kannada language, and his charismatic personality would result in him being hailed as a Varakavi by the Kannada people.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday expressed his disappointment over the slow progress of the Smart City Projects (SCP) in Bengaluru despite the commencement of monsoon. The Chief Minister pulled up officials during a review meeting for the poor condition of 27 roads with piles of mud and craters on both sides of the roads hindering vehicular movement in the city. "The monsoon has already set in and is expected to intensify in another two weeks. When are you going to complete the work?" the CM asked the civic agency officials.

"Though I have instructed the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) to complete the 27 smart city projects by May 31 before the monsoon sets in, the works are incomplete, as evident from piles of mud and craters on both sides of the roads," he said at a review meeting with civic officials. He said he has been observing that the incomplete road works in the Central Business District of Bengaluru was a hindrance to public as well as VIP movement.
