Great times, good humans at the San Diego Surfing Hall of Fame induction for 2026. Was a gorgeous cool evening in Pacific Beach, and so many amazing stories of surfing culture history from the inductees and presenters. Once again, we had the exceptional MC Hank Warner, as well as so many legendary surfers, shapers in the audience.

Uriah & and his Dad, Matt McDonald, having a legendary day at Lowers today for Day 3 of Hurricane Marie 2.0. Dad was swimming out in the lineup with Uriah in the proper 4-6 foot sets. Uriah was holding court with the WCT pros on the sand in between sessions and paddleouts. Caught Uriah giving Callum Robsom and Morgan Ciblic some pointers on surfing Lowers. And also game planning with his coach as they walked down the trail. Uriah's face all day was ear to ear smiles.

Surfing legends, pros, shapers, and icons all came out this year for the Legends of Science & Surfing Invitational at Scripps Pier benefiting the Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego. This year was the 33rd Annual event, and in that time, they raised over $14 million dollars for direct seed funding of cancer research.
The event board auctioned this year for $11,000 and was won by Kevan M Shukat, who was also this year's Rell Sunn recipient. The board was shaped by Hank Warner, with the artwork designed by this year's event artist Tim Bessell, and glassed by Joe & Jojo Roper.

The adventures of Rick Kane (Matt Adler) & Turtle (John Philbin) at the 2026 MCC Legends of Science & Surfing. Two friends who met on the North Shore 39 years ago and now Surfing For A Cure to Cancer. Joined by Surfing mentor Chandler (Gregory Harrison) and even the style master himself Vince (Gerry Lopez).
They surfed at Scripps Pier with other legends of the surfing world, who all came down to raise money and awareness for the Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego in this annual contest and Luau.

5. Meeting Rell Sun Award recipient. Dr. Kevin Shokat for his breakthrough studies on pancreatic cancer research.

Kirk LaRocco caught that 1st epic day of surfing Hurricane Genevieve at Lowers Trestles. Told me on the beach he brought the wrong board for the conditions, but seemed to be ripping from the footage.
