For the Documentary lovers out there, "The Lady Bird Diaries" streaming on HULU is an absolute must. With a running time of an hour and 40 minutes, The Lady Bird Diaries" is packed with never before heard audio and never before viewed film covering the very difficult five years in office of LBJ. The entire documentary is from the perspective of his wife Claudia "Lady Bird" Johnson. It is her own voice that narrates this look, from his swearing in on the day JFK was killed to after LBJ's death and beyond. It is a 9 out of 10 rating for me! R.I.P. Rocky & Back to School star Burt Young! Usually playing a heavy in most movies, Burt was most famous for playing "Paulie Pennino" in the Rocky movies. 𝐌𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖: I always scan my smart tv for something that I might find interesting, and imagine my surprise when HULU featured a 2023 movie titled "War of the Worlds: The Attack". I assumed that it was some sort of movie of the week that HULU either produced or bought to air. But to my surprise, it was a limited released movie in U. S. theaters in April of this year. I've seen the 1953 movie "The War of the Worlds" and also the 2005 remake with Tom Cruise, but missed all the other takes on the classic H. G. Well story. There have been cartoons, as well as, a Part 2 subtitled “The Next Wave” directed and staring C. Thomas Howell, of course that version was a 2005 direct to video release. This new take is not bad, but IT missed an opportunity to be a lot better. The story AND acting are ok, and most importantly, for what I originally thought was a movie of the week, the special effects were, pardon the pun, effective, not distracting like some in low budget movies can be. In short, if you looking for a new take on the original, it’s not a bad 82 minutes to spend your time, but it probably won’t be a topic of discussion at the water cooler in the morning at work. My first experience with the “MAX”(formally HBO Max) series Hard Knocks was a great one. Of course, being a fan of the current year’s team helps with the excitement. Anyone who knows me, knows that I have been a die-hard Jets fan my entire life. From having a Joe Namath autograph photo and posters of the New York Sack Exchange and Ken O’Brien to making my 2 or three treks to Metlife Stadium to watch them each year, my blood bleeds Kelly Green! The 1st episode is basically an Aaron Rodgers hype video, and rightfully so. All the new and returning players seem to gawk at his abilities and let you know they welcome him as one of their own. Aaron does a good job and seems generally excited to be a Jet. He has been adopted by the fans and media alike, and has been soaking it all in, including the New York concert scene, sports and nightlife. As the show goes, great filming, editing and score, along with who Aaron Rodgers calls the “Voice of God”, voice and character actor Liv Schrieber makes the show a big hit year after year. And this year will be no different. If you like football and especially the New York Jets (and who doesn’t) “Hard Knocks” is a must watch! - Robert Peisher
