We couldn't get our eyes off this curious little cub on one of our tours to Tadoba. We were waiting at this water body for almost 40 minutes to get a glimpse of them ; aware that the cubs were inside the bamboo thickets. Finally, with slow caution this cute one popped his head out of the bushes and headed toward the water to quench his thirst. Just look at his eyes, absolutely adorable!

On a warm summer morning, while travelling through the trail of the Tadoba core zone, we came across a herd of Wild Boars. They were feeding on roots & insects near the bamboo thickets, and seem to get startled by our gypsy sound. They scurried across to the other side of the road. Luckily, got this shot just in time.

Look who got spotted 🦌
With a golden-rufus coloring speckled with white dots, the Chital, also known as the Spotted Deer is the most common deer species found across the Indian forests. The stag in the frame is showing off it's beautiful antlers which are curved, three-pronged and extend nearly upto 3 feet and shed every year. When cautiously inspecting its vicinity, the Chital stands motionless and listens with rapt attention, facing the potential danger, if any. Mostly found in herds, it's one of the most commonly sighted animals during any given Safari in India.

The Bandhavgarh National Park is said to have a mythological significance, as it is believed that the Bandhavgarh Fort, which is one of the oldest forts in India; was built by Lord Ram for his brother Laxman to keep a close watch on Lanka, hence the name Bandhavgarh (Bandhav- Brother; Garh- fort).
The shrine, structures and caves found here seem highly influenced by the worship of Lord Vishnu. One of it's biggest examples is Shesh Shaiyya, a 35 foot statue of a reclining Lord Vishnu dated over 1000 years old. On either side of the Vishnu statue, one can see a Shivalinga and an Idol of Lord Brahma as well. This archaeological and cultural heritage sculpture was recently restored by experts in the Tala zone of the park.
It's a must visit for anyone going to Bandhavgarh.

Did you see me or did you not ?
The Golden Jackal is a frequently found scavenger amongst the wild forests of Central India. These small sized mammals are close relatives to the wolves and wild dogs. Usually found in pairs, these golden furred creatures are sighted often traipsing through the jungle in search of leftovers. We sighted this one on one of our Bandhavgarh tours, and his attempt at camouflaging himself against the brown backdrop seemed too cute to let go, hence the click. 📸
