Sue Krage Honored by Winona Noon Lions

Every year the Winona Noon Lions cite one of their members as the “Everyday Hero”. This recognizes a Lion for their contribution to the club and community.
This recipient is chosen by the vote of all club members. The overwhelming choice for the past year was Sue Krage.
Over the past year, she has served as Club President. In addition, she played an integral part in facilitating the merger of the Winona Sunset Lions and the Winona Noon Lions. She organized White Cane Days and participated in all projects and activities of the club. On the District level she is a member of the Kidsight Committee. She also will begin training to distribute eyeglasses to persons in need in Guatemala.

Because of the construction at Winona Volunteer Services, families that receive Christmas meals that previously, had been packed by Noon Lions, families in need will be picking up their meals at Volunteer Services throughout December.
However, the Winona Noon Lions have made a donation to help fund this project and will continue to support the efforts of Winona Volunteer Services for years to come.

The 3 Winona Lions Clubs along with Celanese Community Foundation present a check for $103,000 to the city of Winona for the construction of 2 pavilions with picnic tables and a canopy over benches. The addition will enhance the Every Child's Dream playground which was completed earlier as a result of Lions fundraising.
An additional check of $3500.00 was presented later from a pledge made during the campaign.
We wish to thank Celanese for partnering on the second phase of our effort, as well as, the Winona Community Foundation for serving as our fiscal sponsor.

Lions Broom Sale This Weekend in HyVee Lot
The Winona Noon Lions will be selling their top-quality brooms this Friday, October 15 from 9:00 to 5:00 and from Saturday, October 16 from 9:00 to 1:00.
This long running tradition of Lions selling brooms, dates back when the brooms were produced by visually impaired individuals. Once persons with disabilities became mainstreamed into the regular workforce, Lions continued the practice of selling brooms, since sight preservation is one of our mainstay missions.
In 1925, Helen Keller spoke to the Lions at the International Convention and challenged Lions to become, “Knights of the Blind”. At this convention, sight was adopted as one of our missions.
Although Lions have numerous worldwide missions, such as: Children’s cancer, vision, hearing, diabetes, human services and many more, about 85 cents of every dollar raised in our fundraising efforts stays within our local community. A few of our local concerns are: construction of an all-inclusive playground and pavilion, providing eyeglasses and testing for low income school children, providing meals for needy on Christmas, providing vision screenings for young children through our SightFirst Program and much more.
Sooo… upgrade that old tattered broom standing in the corner of your garage or basement and put your investment where the profits can help serve our local community. Remember, EVERY CENT OF EVERY DOLLAR raised from Lions projects goes to our service projects.
Thank you for supporting Lions projects in Winona since 1935.
