Working with @Maeve McKenna we recorded sisters Joyce Crombie and Jean Barr Crombie on country at Birdsville western Queensland to help them launch their 1st clothing designs - Red Ridge the Label - supported by arts group Red Ridge Interior. The designs are beautiful but not as beautiful as why they are sharing their stories with the world. Maeve and I will now start working on a documentary project with the women supported by @griffithfilmschool. Stay tuned #passionproject
I want to say this story was a pleasure to shoot and write but that would not be quite accurate... it was a pain to shoot I lost any creative idea of how to shoot a field of flowers that all look the same, I was very lucky to have a very talented photographer with me to consult with Lisa Alexander Lisa Alexander Photography. I burnt my retinas out looking at the setting sun for good lighting and returned home with prickles in my knees and backside from crawling around in the flowers. The tent shoot was easier but the shadows kept getting in the way and the wind was something else getting Qantas Founders Museum, Longreach, Queensland shots. I always find out in the field I lose my confidence I can't see in the view finder properly in harsh sun and nothing seems good enough. I often feel claustrophic like I can't see clearly. So it is a great relief to get out of the field and see what the footage looks like.
But it really is a true pleasure to deliver this kind of story that shows the outback at its best with inspirational people.
Safe to say I have a love hate relationship with being a video journalist
