A Letter From MLBB Producer
Hi, it’s Roger here, the producer of MLBB. I believe this is the first time we have a conversation like this. Since 2016, MLBB has been there for us for almost 4 years. Over the past years, our development and operation teams have grown bigger than ever, so did our loyal fan base. First of all, I would like to express my special thanks to the players who grew up with us. It's your love and support that did and always fill us with momentum. It is the mission for MLBB and our entire team to go to any length to deliver happiness to more people and create more unforgettable memories with you guys. Now, let's get to it!
As a game with fair competition at the core, the issue on how to provide players with a better gaming experience has always been the top priority for MLBB team. We've received a lot of feedback from you, which helped us better understand the most important concerns of players in the game.
After that, we have been making efforts to solve these problems through various ways both in and outside of the game. In the upcoming future, more conversations will be carried out between our team and our players. You are always welcome to communicate with us through in-game Customer Service or MLBB homepages of major communities.
I would like to touch on the matchmaking problem that you cared about the most in our first formal conversation. In retrospect, from S1 to S17, I believe that you must had lots of unforgettable memories in MLBB: the constant challenge of every season, every successful ganking and teamfight with good friends, every kill streak to nail the victory, and everytime you turn the tide even with gold and turrets fall behind. The matchmaking algorithm will evaluate the comprehensive strength of each player based on a long-term database.
As MLBB players are all over the world, we hope to assure that everyone can match up with teammates and opponents who got better connection and similar game techniques. However, it is relatively difficult for the system to find players with the same rank and similar network environment within a reasonable period of time. This problem becomes even more obvious when there's a large rank gap in a duo/triple/penta queue. Every time when such problems happen, we need to seek a balance between the matching time and the matching quality.
One thing is for sure, MLBB will continue to make efforts to optimize the matchmaking experience. In Patch 1.4.94, we reduced the probability of a cross-rank match by adjusting relevant parameters, and avoided all cross-rank matches within the 60-second matching duration. We'll further optimize the matchmaking rules, and optimize the algorithm of Star Upgrading/Star Protection, hoping to bring you a fairer and smoother game environment.
In addition to matchmaking, we know that issues like hero balance, network environment, in-game environment (AFK and AFK punishment), and performance (lag) are also your big concerns. We've made corresponding optimizations and adjustments as well.
In terms of hero balance, it is a plan long overdue to let more heroes go to the battlefield. We have launched a plan on optimizing old heroes as well. In addition to the revamped Vale, Cyclops, and Alpha, more familiar faces will return to players' attention one after another.
Also, better network and performance matter in gaming experience. In Patch 1.4.94, we've also made targeted optimizations and adjustments. The new Wifi-4G dual channel and UDP technology can greatly reduce the network delay, and provide more stable connection when the network fluctuates. For each update, we'll have exclusive performance optimization plans for some devices, so that everyone can better enjoy.
MLBB is a game requiring team cooperation. Each player becomes a team member when the picking phase starts. A better game environment relies on not someone's effort, but all of us. Thus, the punishment system for bad game behavior is indispensable. We have improved the punishment for AFK players and optimized the compensation system for players affected by AFK teammates. One small wrong decision may affect the whole team. While engaging the enemies, a positive communication is always needed. HOLD OUT AND WE CAN WIN!
Every member of MLBB team is working hard to bring better gaming experience for players. We know it's well worth the efforts. I want to express the deepest appreciation to every player who are devoted to the game. It is your feedback and support that fuel us to embark on the adventure ahead.
Together, we'll achieve something bigger, something greater. It is an odyssey for all of us.

At the very end of this letter, I've got a small piece of suggestion for you. Victory and defeat are both common on the battlefield. If you lose the match every now and then, please don't panic. Take a deep breath and switch to a right frame of mind. You'll be the one who turn the tide in the tug-of-war.
Warrior, see you in the Land of Dawn!
