Kris is a passionate pioneer in the recovery community. She has influenced both of our recovery journeys and we are so excited to be able to sit down and talk with her about the work she is doing in Recovery Community Organizations and Peer Support Services.

On today's episode, we talk about her journey into recovery, how she found what worked for HER, and how she found her passion for work in recovery.

The most fundamental principal I have come to learn in recovery, is that you HAVE to be okay with not being okay. We are not made to feel good all the time. There is power in sitting with the darkness; strength that comes from sitting with the pain.

Thank you so much for your patience, all! These past few weeks have been NUTS! Kyla got married and spent 9 days honeymooning in Alaska, and Patrick started school! Hey everybody, as you may of noticed we did not release an episode this week. I’m happy to say there is a good reason for it. Kyla, my co-host, got married over the weekend.

This project, our podcast, is our passion manifested. Our recovery has catapulted us into a life better than what we could have imagined. Both of us have seen the promises come true in our lives, and this past weekend Kyla saw hers.

(After the honeymoon we will re-record our intro to reflect the name change 👍)

Congrats you two! -Patrick

Episode 20 is live wherever you listen to your podcasts!

Addiction is a family disease. When one person is sick, usually the family gets sick, or the ones closest to the person using.

In this episode we discuss the reality many families face, their loved one struggling with substance use disorder. How do you save them? Can you save them? Is there hope? Yes, there's definitely hope!

As always we pull from our lived experience and look at this through two lenses: that of a concerned family member, and that of a peer recovery specialist. Tune in!

Forgive yourself and leave the guilt and shame behind you. Don’t go about carrying your past mistakes as a burden on your shoulders. That’s too heavy. Make the necessary amends and push forward.

We are the Wagon

Patrick and Kyla met while doing a year of service work. Both natives of Minnesota, and people in long term recovery, they are passionate about spreading awareness to the many pathways of recovery, and having fun while doing so. They both work within the recovery community, and wear many hats (more so Patrick). The Wagon podcast was created to be an outlet for information, story sharing, and getting down to the nitty gritty that is addiction and recovery. We understand that every life is uniquely woven therefore must be uniquely unwoven. There is no one size fits all treatment for substance use disorders, and we aim to explore the many pathways.
