The biggest gathering of nature lovers has started in the coastal district of Barguna. The three-day festival has been named after the school of life with life.
Barguna Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Pijus Chandra Dey inaugurated the three-day gathering on Friday (February 25) morning. At this time, 3 entrepreneurs and environmental activists were awarded ‘Pran Samnamana Padak 2022’.
Initiative for Social Change (ISC) and Suranjana Eco-Tourism Center and Resort (Barguna) in a joint venture with Wild Watch Bangladesh. The festival begins on the morning of February 25 in the vast green forest right where the traditional Khagdan River of Barguna joins the sea.
Hundreds of environmental activists and hill-tribe tribal representatives from at least 30 districts of the country took part in the event. They are living in a tent next to the mangrove forest by the river. In addition to interacting with each other, they will exchange views, conduct nature lessons, study circles, discuss issues of interest to local marginalized people, river trips, etc. This year, Ritu Parveen from Chittagong, Ruman Imtiaz Tushar from Patuakhali Kuakata, and Md. Arif Hossain.
The fair will run from 25 to 27 February. According to the organizers, the event was organized to bring together nature lovers to discuss effective ways to create awareness on improving the living standards of the local marginalized population by protecting the environment and biodiversity. The local conscious community thinks that this event will play an important role in making the young generation interested in the development of the potential tourism industry of Barguna.
In this regard, Assistant Commissioner of Barguna District Administration and Executive Magistrate Mehedi Hasan said, “We have forgotten nature in our civic life.” Forests are being destroyed day by day. Through such events, on the one hand, nature can be enjoyed, on the other hand, the locals can be made aware not to destroy the forest in order to maintain the balance of nature. Undoubtedly this is a good initiative.
