CITY LEAGUE STARS: Christiana Towns is a true freshman and star athlete on the Linden-McKinley STEM Academy Girls Basketball Team. The Fort Hayes student averages 18 points and 10 rebounds per game, including a 35 point and 25 rebound game against Marion Franklin. The 2024 First Team All-City athlete and Co-Captain has goals to make girls basketball great in the Linden Community.

Co-Captain Tamiya Harrington, Linden-McKinley STEM Academy class of 2024, has been through a lot of adversity. Her team only had 5 players last year, and they only won 3 games. There was a huge uncertainty on if Linden would even have a girls basketball team this year, but the 2023 First Team All-City player took charge and made sure that Linden McKinley would have a team this year. Tamiya helped her team win 7 games this year, compared to only 3 games last year. (*several losses this year by 5 points or less)

Head Coach Felicia Crenshaw is so proud of her girls and their roles in changing the culture of The Linden Mckinley Girls Basketball Program. She believes Christiana and Tamiya have a lot to offer a college program because of their hard work and dedication to the game. Christiana wants to study photography. Tamiya wants to enroll in a diagnostic medical sonography program in college.

Natiah Nelson from Columbus Africentric Early College class of 2024 believes with confidence that this year's team would beat ANY CAEC girls basketball team from the past. However, Coach Shaq believes the 2006 team that she was on along with Tyeasha Moss would beat the 2024 team. Who would win? We will never know 🍿

King Kendrick, class of 2026, is a star athlete at Northland High School. The ambidextrous guard has gained nationwide attention due to his skill set, including multiple NBA players who have reached out.

King doesn’t let the hype get to him because he understands he still has a lot of work to do so that he can reach both the team goals at Northland, and his personal goals on the court. Coach Tihon Johnson believes in King’s ability to make a difference at a major college program, and he believes King will have plenty of division 1 power 5 offers to choose from.

King wants to study business and real estate. He also wants to help inner city youth when his playing days are done.

The Linden-McKinley Girls Basketball Team only won 3 games last year. In fact, they only had 5 players on their team last year. This year they won 7 games, and have added more ladies to their roster! They still have a lot of work to do, but we are proud of them, and we congratulate Tamiya Harrington, Christiana Towns and Coach Felicia Crenshaw for helping to change the culture for Linden Ladies Hoops 🤝

Doug Rippy's career at The University Of Colorado was unfortunately filled with several injuries. But when the Linden-McKinley Panther played, he performed at a high level.

His junior year, he started the first 7 games at linebacker before being sidelined the rest of the season due to his injuries, yet he still earned honorable mention All-Pac 12 honors from the league coaches, and Phil Steele’s "College Football" had named him Mid-Season Third-Team All-Conference.

He led his team in tackles through 6 games (52 at the time) and he added 10 more against Washington until he suffered season ending injuries. He still finished 5th on the Buffs in tackles for the year with 62 (43 of which were solo that included three quarterback sacks).

He was also awarded the Clancy A. Herbst Jr. Student-Athlete Achievement Award at the school’s annual Academic Recognition Banquet his senior year. The award is presented to athletes who overcome personal, academic or emotional difficulties to succeed both academically and athletically. Photo Credits: The University Of Colorado.

Rodney "Speedy" Stewart finished his career at The University Of Colorado with 3,598 rushing yards, which is 3rd on CU’s all time list. He is only behind Eric Bieniemy, and Phillip Lindsay.

He arguably could have finished #1 had it not been for missing games due to injuries. He also ranks #1 all time at Colorado in rushing attempts with 809, and #2 in all purpose yards with 4567.

His college resume is so long and detailed, it's too much to post! In high school, he earned First-Team All-State honors as a senior at Brookhaven, rushing for 2,036 yards and 33 touchdowns, averaging 10.8 yards per carry (with a long of 75, 1 of 6 runs over 50 yards).

For some reason he was not heavily recruited. Colorado was his only major offer. He showed the nation why it was a mistake for college coaches to pass on him, because he had a historic career at a school in a major division 1 conference. Photo Credits: The University Of Colorado.
