Our New toy...2024 Gray wolf black label camper. We looked at them last week and brought it home today. First camper I've had that comes with solar. If your in the market for a new camper, go talk with Grant @ Bayou Outdoor Supercenter in Bossier City.

Back in April, a friend, Julie Phelps and I kayaked the Buffalo River for the 2nd year, from Ponca LWB to Rileys on the White River. Spent a few days at Tyler Bend for the eclipse. We had a great time and full of new memories.

Here is the specs on our Buffalo River trip.

Day 1 Thurs 4/4 Ponca to Kyles (10:31am-4:49pm) 12.79 miles (this includes 1.56 miles out/back to Hemmed In Hollow)

Day 2 Fri 4/5 Kyle's to gravel bar above Hasty (9:01am-4:40pm) 17.56 miles

Day 3 Sat 4/6 gravel bar above Hasty to Woolum (7:37am-5:13pm) 24.24 miles

Day 4 Sun 4/7 Woolum to Tyler Bend (7:47am-1:45pm) 15.44 miles

Day 5 Mon 4/8 zero @ Tyler Bend

Day 6 Tues 4/9 zero @ Tyler Bend

Day 7 Wed 4/10 Tyler Bend to Spring Creek (8:08am-4pm) 22.09 miles

Day 8 Thurs 4/11 Spring Creek to gravel bar 10 miles below Rush (8:01am-4:37pm) 23.98 miles

Day 9 Fri 4/12 gravel bar below Rush to White River (8am-12:58pm) 14.2 miles

GRAND TOTAL 130.3 miles!!! (this includes hiking to HIH)

A man saw a snake being burned to death and decided to take it out of the fire. When he did, the snake bit him causing excruciating pain. The man dropped the snake, and the reptile fell right back into the fire.
So, the man looked around and found a metal pole and used it to take the snake out of the fire, saving its life.
Someone who was watching approached the man and said: “That snake bit you. Why are you still trying to save it?”
The man replied: “The nature of the snake is to bite, but that's not going to change my nature, which is to help.”
Do not change your nature simply because someone harms you. Do not lose your good heart, but learn to take precautions.

Emma Rowena (Caldwell) Gatewood, known as Grandma Gatewood, (October 25, 1887 – June 4, 1973), was an American ultra-light hiking pioneer. After a difficult life as a farm wife, mother of eleven children, and survivor of domestic violence, she became famous as the first solo female thru-hiker of the 2,168-mile (3,489 km) Appalachian Trail (A.T.) in 1955 at the age of 67. She subsequently became the first person (male or female) to hike the A.T. three times, after completing a second thru-hike two years later, followed by a section-hike in 1964. In the meantime, she hiked 2,000 miles (3,200 km) of the Oregon Trail in 1959. In her later years, she continued to travel and hike, and worked on a section of what would become the Buckeye Trail. The media coverage surrounding her feats was credited for generating interest in maintaining the A.T. and in hiking generally. Among many other honors, she was posthumously inducted into the Appalachian Trail Hall of Fame in 2012.
