"Wake me up when pandemic ends," Rosemae Ann Canete a first-year student of Cebu Institute of Technology University (CIT-U) responded when asked about what did she feel while having an online class. A day in a virtual world is the everyday life of most student nowadays, despite the struggle and crisis to the new mode of learning, her classmates and professors always made her accommodated and connected and that makes the true essence of virtual engagement- no one is left behind.

: We celebrate with fellow , the 28th Week by honoring our , our dynamic journalists.

In the 1896 Philippine revolution, the expansion of the Katipunan as a national movement would not have been possible without the revolutionary propagandists.

Dated January 1, 1896, Kalayaan, the K*K publication, was released in March 1896 and according to Katipunero Dr. Pio Valenzuela, it only had 2,000 copies (with 8 pages each).

Here's a fun fact.

When K*K only had 300 members in January 1896, after Kalayaan was published and circulated, the K*K membership expanded to 30,000 members. That's a whopping 9,900% increase in membership in just 5 months, or upon the Spaniards’ discovery of the secret society in August 1896! (Reference: NCCA on Kalayaan, June 4, 2015)

Indeed, the press, as a watchdog, is such a powerful force in surmounting society’s challenges. !

The unprecedented adversities brought about by this global pandemic are arguably the worst for this generation. It does not only thrust its destructive effects towards a select few but to all of which it can grapple. In times like these, what we need is not just material relief, but even more so our sense of humanity.

As students of Cebu Normal University and as a part of the academic community, we have collectively collated the students’ demands amid this global pandemic, through an Open Letter to the Administrators, Faculties, and Student Councils, in the hopes that this will be heeded and will serve as a help to the decision-making body of the university in coming-up with a humanitarian decision for the students, teachers, and staff.

Thus, as an online publication, we stand with the clamor of the students and hereby call for the 7 Normalite Demands:

a). Ending the Semester and Mass Promotion

b). Canceling all Activities, Assignments, and Tasks

c). Revising the syllabi and readjusting the academic calendar

d). Academic Freedom of the Professors

e). Ensuring the Financial stability of the faculty and non-teaching staff

f). Providing Aid for the students who were not able to return to their homes and are currently stranded in the City

g). Scholarship Grants

READ THE UNITY STATEMENT AND OPEN LETTER:

As one, we will outlast this pandemic with Quality and Integrity!
