GANG MEMBER SHOT IN COURT'S PARKING LOT
Nassau, BAHAMAS- A reputed gang member was shot and wounded while leaving court on Wednesday.
Police believe that Raphael Neymour, a member of the Mad Ass gang, was ambushed by gang rivals as he walked to his car in the parking lot of the South Street Magistrates’ Complex.
Neymour was attending court for a gun case that was adjourned because his lawyer was absent.
The case concerns Neymour's arrest in downtown Nassau on March 28.
Police stopped Neymour's car and he allegedly ran. Officers arrested him following a brief chase and allegedly found a G***k 40 pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition in Neymour's possession.
He was released from prison last year after serving 15 years of a 20-year sentence for the fatal shooting of Huel Ferguson in the parking lot of the now-closed Cocktails and Dreams club.
Neymour initially faced a murder charge in the security guard's death. However, he was acquitted of murder and convicted of manslaughter by provocation.
This is not the first time a gang member was shot leaving court.
In April 2022, a member of the Grove Hot Ni**as was wounded after gunmen ambushed the car he was traveling in on Nassau Street.
The victim, Desmond Gilbert, had been released on bail for a gun case minutes before the shooting.
