I'd like to work closely with a handful of creators in my community to help them build sustainable revenue streams.

I'm thinking a weekly group call with monthly 1:1 calls.

Who'd be into this?

Can you take a few minutes to give my talk at SXSW London 2025 a vote. Thanks in advance!

3 things you shouldn’t worry about when building a membership:

1. Having a massive audience.
2. Creating endless content.
3. Offering too many perks upfront.

Instead, focus on:

1. Consistently delivering value.
2. Building trust with your audience.
3. Engaging your true fans.

Here’s how to better focus on what really matters:
1. Start small.
2. Keep it simple.
3. Grow as you learn what your audience needs.

Why rely on brand deals when your audience is willing to pay YOU directly?

Every year, we hear the same thing from creators:

“I wish I had started sooner.”

It’s a common feeling—waiting for the perfect time, the right tools, or just a little more confidence. But here’s the thing: there’s no perfect time, and the best tools are now more accessible than ever.

Take the creators who launched with Uscreen last January. In just two months, they collectively earned $1.4 million. Many hit 5-figure sales for the first time—and it all started with a decision to take the leap.

That’s why we’re making it easier than ever to start strong in 2025.

Our Power Launch Kit is here to help you hit the ground running. With features like mobile apps, community tools, and content scheduling, you’ll have everything you need to engage your audience and grow your revenue.

And the best part? It’s 50% off for 6 months. That’s over $4,000 in savings in your first year alone.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to get started, this is it.

Details are in the comments—this offer ends December 24th. Let’s make 2025 the year you build something incredible. 🚀

From Flipping Burgers to Building Creator Communities—My Unexpected Journey into Tech

02/10/2024

Ever catch yourself doing something that feels productive but maybe isn’t the best use of your time at the moment?

Yesterday, I found myself in that exact spot. I had been emailing a few dads who responded to a survey I sent out about a potential community I'm thinking of launching. But for about 10-15 minutes, I got distracted and started designing a logo for it.

Now, don’t get me wrong—I'm a creative at heart, and I love playing around with fonts, colors, and logo ideas. It's fun, and visuals and branding are important, no doubt. But as I moved letters around and browsed through inspiration, a thought hit me: *Why am I doing this right now?*

At this stage, the most valuable thing I could be doing is having real conversations with the people I’m hoping to serve—not perfecting a logo. So I closed the design program and went back to responding to a few more emails from the dads who took the time to share their thoughts with me.

No grand wisdom here—just sharing that messy middle stage we all go through when building something. Anyone else ever get caught in the details instead of focusing on the big picture? How do you pull yourself back?

Last week, I met two incredible creators who faced a major setback: their YouTube channels were demonetized.

One of them produces faith-based children's content, and the other is a lifestyle creator resonating with the Gen Z audience.

When they lost their ability to earn through AdSense and the YouTube Partner revenue streams, they could have thrown in the towel.

But instead, they did something inspiring.

The first creator pivoted quickly and launched a private membership using Uscreen. In just a couple of short weeks, they're already seeing early success.

The second creator took a different route, expanding to other platforms and realizing the importance of building an email list. What's even more impressive is how this shift in focus is transforming his content strategy. He's creating less, but with more purpose—building the foundation of a real business where content isn't just about views but about intentional audience engagement.

It’s a powerful reminder that in this ever-changing creator economy, the ability to adapt is just as important as the ability to create. And sometimes, the most challenging moments can lead to the most meaningful growth.

Something interesting is happening in the creator economy.

Creators aren’t all trying to build massive media empires with hundreds of employees. Instead, I’m noticing a shift toward more thoughtful, sustainable growth.

More and more creators are moving away from relying solely on ads or creator funds.

Instead, they’re building their own digital products, like video memberships and online courses. At Uscreen, we’re seeing this firsthand happening in real time.

Some creators are even going further—hosting high-ticket paid retreats, masterminds, and launching physical products. I met a beauty creator at VidSummit who’s building her own product line from scratch, not just licensing her name.

Another is selling affirmation cards designed specifically for creators.

It’s less about building a huge empire and more about scaling smartly, with products that align with their values and audience.

Have you noticed this trend too?

Thinking of building a community for dad creators. Dad jokes are 100% welcome, but I promise there’s plenty of valuable stuff too! 🙌

Honestly, I’m not sure if this is something other dad creators want or can fit into their busy lives, but I’ve got a gut feeling that a lot of us are looking for a space to connect with other dads in the industry.

If you’re balancing content creation and fatherhood, I’d love to hear your thoughts by filling out this short survey.

A question I hear often: What are the best off-platform revenue streams for creators?

From what I’ve seen, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some creators are diving into both physical and digital products, but digital tends to be where many start. It’s just more accessible—less capital, quicker to launch, and easier to package.

A creator coach I respect recently said that every creator should have a signature digital product. I couldn’t agree more. It’s about being known for solving one specific problem and building authority around that.

Now, physical products? They’re a different story. They require a lot more upfront investment—production, manufacturing, distribution. Some creators license their name to established brands, but others are creating their own products from scratch, which comes with its own challenges.

My advice (FWIW)? Start with digital. It’s a lower barrier to entry, and it gives you real experience with marketing and selling. Once you’ve built that confidence, then you can think about expanding into physical products if it fits your brand.

What do you think—digital first, or is there a place for physical products early on?

🚫 Stop Chasing Followers.

A Small, Engaged Community Can Be More Valuable Than a Massive Audience.

📊 It’s not about how many people follow you—it’s about how many care.

A small, highly engaged community can create more meaningful impact and revenue than a large, passive audience.

Try these three strategies:

1. 🔁 Develop a Tiered Membership with Progressive Benefits.

2. 🔍 Create a “Micro-Niche” Membership Community.

3. 📜 Offer a “Certification” Program Within Your Membership.

I've attended a lot of conferences and events over the years, and I just have to give a shout-out to everyone who makes these in-person gatherings possible. 🙌

Lately, our team has been working hard on some in-person events we plan to host for Uscreen customers and partners, and let me tell you—it’s been a learning experience!

I was reading Matt D'Avella's newsletter where he talked about sharing the “messy middle” of any process. It got me thinking about some of the lessons we're learning as a team while organizing these events. So here goes:

1. There’s WAY more to it than you think. The planning, the logistics, the back-and-forth with venues and speakers, it’s a lot! But it’s also incredibly rewarding for our whole team.

2. The magic is in the details. One thing that really stands out to us is how much people appreciate it when you put in the time and thought to make them feel valued. A great event isn’t just about the big things; it’s the small touches that make a difference.

3. Prepare like you’re serving. I heard this on a podcast once: “A good leader serves by preparing.” This mindset has been a driving force for our team as we work to create events that show our customers and partners just how much we appreciate them.

We know we’ll probably miss some details in these first few events (no such thing as perfect!), but we’ll learn and get better together. It’s all part of the process. We’re just excited about creating a space where we can connect with our community face-to-face and say, “Hey, we see you, and we appreciate you.”

To anyone out there planning events or showing up for their people in whatever way they can—keep going! You’re making a bigger impact than you know.
