Do you make those around you smarter?

We’ve all had experience with 2 dramatically different types of leaders:

Diminishers—leaders who drain intelligence, energy, and capability from the people around them

Leaders that exclude you from learning.

Multipliers—leaders who use their intelligence to amplify the smarts and capabilities of the people around them

Leaders that look for opportunities for the team to learn and grow.

The world needs more Multipliers, especially now, when leaders are expected to do more with less.

In my first year as a broadcaster and news anchor, I experienced a panic attack. I know – you might be asking yourself, 'Why is Daisy sharing this so openly?' The answer is simple: because we don't share it. Because we don't talk about it... because mental health is as important as physical health, and sometimes, professionals see it as taboo. As a Latina, I feel the pressure is even more significant because we often face additional challenges. There's a cultural reluctance to discuss mental health openly, and in some cases, people might make jokes about it, making it even harder to address. Let me tell you what happened. I was feeling anxious and had a headache. I was overwhelmed by different elements at work and in my career. I realized that it was not about one thing but many things that I couldn't fix, and I was in survival mode – just working, executing, and doing my job.
I was strong enough to pause, recap, and walk away. I had to take care of myself. I'm giving you permission to do the same. I'm better for it, and you can be too. Now, I ask you: have you ever felt the weight of societal or cultural expectations impacting your mental health?
