This past weekend’s talk at Genesee Country Village & Museum reminded me that when we preserve headstones, we’re doing more than saving artifacts; we’re keeping history alive.

My cleaning season has come to an end and so has my schedule of speaking engagements for the year! I’m ready for a cozy winter plugging away at research and editing ❤️

Excited to kick off another headstone cleaning season, and this year at a new cemetery! I'm honored and thrilled to add Pittsford Cemetery to my roster of working spaces! Like many other cemeteries, this one is full of history!

Some interesting burials:
🪦There are 75 Civil War soldiers buried here
🪦There is 1 Confederate solider buried here
🪦A seal and sea lion trainer
🪦A leader of the Shay's Rebellion
🪦The body guard of George Washington at Valley Forge
🪦A scientist who's failed experiment cost him his life

The Board of Directors for this cemetery have done a spectacular job including QR codes at certain headstones for visitors to scan and learn more about the buried resident!

All of this to say I am pumped to be cleaning here and excited to take you all on the journey with me!

I'm excited to be speaking on March 25th for the Genealogical Research Institute of Virginia - GRIVA. I'll be talking about the hidden stories buried below headstones and the intersection of grave preservation and genealogy! Learn how cleaning reveals names and dates, while research uncovers the rich histories behind them, connecting us to the lives of those who came before us.

This talk is 100% virtual and free for anyone to attend! Register today!
