It's time to say goodbye. Through our three year journey, we have seen how creativity is a powerful force. It makes you think, find solutions and colours your life. But it requires perseverance and plenty of it. Perseverance, in turn, requires courage. In your own journeys, support each other. It's ok to criticize but don't break each other down. Thank you to everyone who has built into this dream: loved ones, mentors, interns and all our creative friends. We hope these experiences were fun, beneficial and helped you with whatever you needed.

Seasons Change Event | Thank you to everyone who came and contributed to the event at Community with Blom Creations.

Like life, creativity works in seasons and through letting go there can be life again. Times of transition and change build experiences and create opportunities to learn something new. We have to tell ourselves not to be afraid and rather lean into the uncomfortableness of whatever is next; to find the beauty of each season and see it's value.

You can see more photos on our website, and our goodbye, on the Events Page.

Our final Issue |

Each season carries a purpose. Summer brings warmth; winter encourages rest and pruning. In considering the way forward for Conteu, we realised that we had come to the end of our exciting and growth-filled season.

What started as a passion project very organically between friends had run its course (quite beautifully) and we both feel the time had come to celebrate our journey and move onto new pastures. Thank you to every creative, maker and person who was part of this journey.

How are the creative industries responding to ocean plastic pollution?

For those who missed the live Instagram video last week, our a new friend of ours, Rachel from Tactile Trends, explored this topic. During the talk Rachel read excerpts from the visual essay 'tides of change' which explores our connection to the ocean, the importance of raising awareness of plastic pollution, ways to retrieve & recycle ocean plastic, mindful consumption and the potential of biofabrication.

An informative and interesting talk, definitely worth a listen!

What does success mean to you?

We continued to explore this concept, interviewing different creatives and their definition of success, in the second issue of our four part series - now live.

In this issue, we interviewed the founders, Jeremy Klynsmith and Peni Wick, of the newly opened and very trendy Sri Lankan cafe, hotel and co-work space, Verse Collective. Their shared dream — using business and creativity as a vehicle to help others — is the culmination of years of soul searching to discover what it means for them to live a successful life.

We also chatted to some incredible makers from Thailand to learn about their craft and how they're working towards their idea of success in their business.

Have a read and let us know what you think!

Our first issue of 2018 kicks off our four-part series exploring the concept of success: what it means to different creatives, the trade-offs it requires and how different makers from Ho Chi Minh perceive it. Of course, we had to do some digging of our own, and the result is some learnings we think most of us could glean from.

So take a bit of time over the next week, peruse our latest issue, and start to figure out your own definition of success.

January. We’re feeling refreshed and ready to tackle what the year has in store for us. One of the biggest lessons we learnt in 2017 was that it’s critical to follow a plan that delivers on a focused vision. So we’ve decided to take some time this month to plan and reflect on everything (about you, working, living and inspiring). That means there won’t be a January issue this month but look out for our mini Maker Monday Instagram series featuring makers from Vietnam. ______________________

Our Story

We’ve found that when we start to think creatively, we tend to see the world through a different lens, bringing colour to our friendships, our work and our communities. We created Conteu to share original and sometimes unusual stories to encourage the curious to explore their creativity. Based out of South Africa, we shared the magazine’s stories online and through a Special Print Edition, as well as curated events. What started as a passion project very organically between friends had run its course (quite beautifully) and in mid-2018 we both felt it was time to celebrate our journey for what it was and move onto new creative pursuits.
