During my 21 year tenure in EverQuest, my favorite race was the Gnomes therefore meaning I spent a lot of time in their starting city of Ak’Anon. Not only because 95% of characters I made were Gnome but because I even hunted NPC’s there at higher levels⁠

It’s from spending all of my time there that I came across the “evil” side of Ak’Anon, which were a bunch of caves with Nerco guild masters. Also residing in these caves were low level NPC’s and a low level quest for a low delay 1H blunt weapon called the Bull Smasher.⁠

Fast forward to launch day of Green Server on Project 1999 and the noobie area was swamped. I’m not kidding when I say a mob lasted a few seconds after spawning before being killed by a sea of naked and Yellow robed Gnomes.⁠

That’s when it hit me…. How many of these people know about the Nerco caves? The answer? Not that many. I spent the first few hours of launch soloing here and I also completed the Bull Smasher quest… the first on the server to do so!⁠

Not only that but it unlocked a server wide achievement and announcement! Why the Bull Smasher? I have no idea but I’ll take it!⁠
