Spencer Films is honored to have its team bring home a regional Emmy award tonight from Kansas City! Julie Staley, Laura Richter, and Tim Lynn won the Mid-America Emmy in the Historical/Cultural - Short Form Content category for “Music of Hope” with the story told by Yona Stamatis and Karen Westbrook and Nancy Sage. We are excited to announce that our documentary film “Fields of Gold” is now streaming and available for rental and digital purchase on Amazon and Amazon Prime! "Fields of Gold", narrated by Peter Coyote, is produced by Pollack Films and Spencer Films in partnership with the Herald & Review and The Staley Museum.

A.E. Staley went from growing up barefoot on a farm in North Carolina, to building a billion dollar agribusiness giant. He was the original owner of the football team that eventually became the Chicago Bears.

We are humbled and honored to be nominated a third year in a row for an Emmy Award. Our piece “Music of Hope” shares the very personal and poignant story of Yona Stamatis and how her music through the violin peacefully advocates awareness and change between cultural differences. We talk with Dr. Stamatis and the Jewish Federation of Springfield on their work together for peace, culture, and historic preservation through music.

Television shoot this week for WSIU-TV (PBS) with Kathy Smith of PBJ Springfield and all of her volunteers as we visited Washington Street Mission. They make 2000 PBJ sandwiches a week to help feed the homeless. Their dedication is making a real difference. We will have more in our story to air soon!

The SolarSTEAM project is a multi-agency team funded by NASA to complete research on the total solar eclipse event as well as related events. They will provide live coverage of this eclipse anchored at SIU Saluki Stadium featuring commentary and interviews from scientists and outreach professionals....

It’s once in a lifetime…again…for Carbondale, IL. On April 8 the solar eclipse will been seen in totality from Carbondale, just as it did in 2017. Another fantastic weekend of events is taking place. Spencer Films’ Julie Staley will be part of it as an anchor for the WSIU-TV broadcast live at Saluki Stadium in partnership with NASA. The show will be televised in Southern Illinois and live streamed across North America. Spencer Films’ Laura Richter will be part of the event as a producer. “Fields of Gold” making Headlines in North Carolina!

It’s cold here in Illinois but we had a warm reception from everyone in North Carolina for our East Coast premiere of “Fields of Gold”! The film has made newspaper headlines across the state. We are so glad we can share this story where it all began in North Carolina! Thank you for your support! Links to these stories are in the comments.

Get the first look at "Fields of Gold"! We are proud to release our trailer from Pollack Films and Spencer Films, produced in partnership with the Decatur Herald & Review. The documentary will premiere at a red carpet event on August 18 in Beverly Hills, CA. There will be another premiere in Decatur on September 16 at the Lincoln Square Theater. The film will be open to the public for a limited run at the Lincoln. More announcements will come soon about where it will be available. The documentary has been more than four years in the making, and shares the life of A. E. Staley and history of the Staley Manufacturing Company. The story is told by Emmy award-winning narrator, Peter Coyote. Follow our history at The Staley Museum!
