Facebook is losing its grip as a ‘Top 10’ app as BeReal and TikTok grow

Facebook this year has been struggling to maintain its position among the Top 10 apps on the U.S. App Store, according to an analysis of iPhone App Store data. As younger consumers shift to newer social networking experiences like TikTok and now BeReal, the tech giant’s big blue app has lost traction in the App Store’s Top Charts. Last year, for instance, Facebook only fell out of the Top 10 free iPhone apps in the U.S. seven times. But in 2022, that figure has already soared to 97 — an indication that Facebook may be losing ground as new apps push their way into the App Store’s top rankings. For a more direct comparison, Facebook’s app fell out of the App Store’s Top 10 apps just six times during the first half of 2021. In the first half of 2022, however, it has dropped out of this grouping a total of 59 times, per data provided to TechCrunch by app intelligence firm Sensor Tower.

How to Protect Yourself from Keylogger Attacks

And that's how easy it is for hackers to see and record every keystroke you press on your computer. When a hacker has an unnoticed backdoor on your computer, anything is possible, but there are a few things you can do to minimize the risk of having your keys captured:

Use antivirus software. While there's not a catch-all solution, and antivirus software won't protect against sophisticated and cutting-edge keyloggers, there's still no excuse for not using antivirus software which protects against most known keylogger software.

Use on-screen keyboards when entering passwords.One of the limitations of most keyloggers is that they only capture actual keystrokes being pressed on the keyboard. The Windows on-screen keyboard will provide a virtual keyboard that may help circumvent keyloggers.

Use a firewall. It's possible lazy attackers won't go through the effort of disguising their payloads to appear as being normal DNS (port 53) or HTTP (port 80) transmissions. A firewall might catch suspicious packets leaving your computer on port 35357.

Protect your computer against backdoors. While all of the above is helpful when you're already backdoored, the best thing to do is make sure you're not exploited in the first place.

YouTube has begun testing the ability to zoom in on videos in the iOS app. The new feature will become part of the premium subscription.

A feature called "Pinch to Zoom" is currently available in an experimental version to all YouTube Premium subscribers. It allows you to enlarge the video up to 8 times while watching.

Testing will run until September 1, after which it may become a permanent part of the YouTube Premium package.
