Fantastic Battles is a fast-play, mass-battle, wargaming system for any fantasy setting. The rules emphasise the tactical concerns of command friction and the fog of war through randomised initiative, tabletop mishap rolls and the impetuous decisions of unsupervised unit commanders. An all-in-one volume, this book contains the rules for stand-alone pitched battles as well as campaigns. Twenty-four
example army lists are provided; however, army building is designed to be flexible. A toolkit of base profiles and unit traits allow players to build customised armies to suit their own vision of their fantasy faction. Scale agnostic, with multi-based figures and no individual figure removal, the game can be played using any fantasy figures, or historical armies from the ancient to the early modern period.

I'm very pleased to say that Fantastic Battles version 1.2 is now available.
The new version makes a very small number of rule amendments and clarifications, and introduces two new relics and ten new unit traits to help you build your fantasy army. There are also four new asymetric scenarios included, as well as rules for playing out seiges on your tabletop.

I'm honoured to have been asked to run some games at Lisburn Gaming Club for the 24 hour gaming event they are running to raise money for the DEC.
I'll be running Fantastic Battles (mass-battle fantasy), Palaeo Diet: Eat or Be Eaten (prehistoric hunting), and FAVSTVS FVRIVS (beer and pretzels chariot racing).

The initial take up of Fantastic Battles has been beyond anything I'd hoped, and I really want to thank everyone who's supported the rules so far.
However, I'd also love to grow the Fantastic Battles community. As an independent publisher I have a limited reach and a smaller advertising budget. The best way to spread the word is to encourage more community reviews.
