I really enjoy taking slabs others would pass on or even add to their burn pile and turning them into something beautiful. Stay tuned for what this turns into.

This is what happens when the end of the logs are not sealed after cutting. You can easily see the moisture gradient from the edge to the center. This uneven drying causes checking or cracking at the edges. To minimize this, paint the ends of your logs with Anchor Seal or just old latex paint. This seals the ends and slows drying.

First cuts for my entry into urban forestry. Some logs, albeit small, I've obtained around the neighborhood. Ambrosia Maple, Honey Locust and something to be determined (maybe Ash). First cuts were the smaller ones on the bandsaw. Next I will assemble my chainsaw mill for the larger ones.
Dust collector in progress. Big assist from the boy saving my knees
After doing a flurry of projects for the horse art show with @lajbaumann I was left with a ton of scraps. So I am using the opportunity to test the new Ecopoxy I received and make a bunch of selcrap wood servings trays. I'll post more on how I am doing these later.
