Breaking News: US fighter jets go head-to-head with Russian jets as planes try to intercept putin's atomic bombers.
THIS is the dramatic moment US jets came face to face with hostile Russian warplanes after Putin sent two nuclear bombers into the sky.
A pair of fearsome Tu-95MS nuclear bombers have been seen soaring near the coast of Alaska amid serious concerns in Moscow about US involvement in the war in Ukraine.
President Joe Biden's team is poised to send a large arms shipment to Ukraine in the coming days as part of a $61 billion war aid package.
Russia's defense minister admitted they had deployed strategic bombers, known as "Bear bombers," near the coast of Alaska for an 11-hour flight over the Bering Sea.
Moscow said that "at certain stages, the missile carriers were accompanied by fighter jets of foreign countries".
The Russian Ministry of Defense has released footage of its warplanes' bomb missiles that appear to match Alaskan Air National Guard (AANG) aircraft in the air.
The AANG is part of the US Air Force and can be clearly identified in the video as a jet aircraft visibly marked with the letters AK and the number 304 on the tail fin.
It is not clear which other nations were following the Russian mission, but the closest ally would be Canada.
Although the use of nuclear bombers is considered suspect, Moscow says they followed all aviation laws and regulations.
They claimed that "all flights of the Russian Air Force are carried out in strict accordance with international rules on the use of airspace".

Russian casualties increased in the second half of April amid pressure in the Donetsk region following Moscow's capture of the town of Avdiivka in February, as Kiev awaits the delivery of military aid recently approved by the US Congress.
