Come to our Adobe workshop hosted by Adobe Student Ambassadors Sophia Pinto and Summer McGuckin to learn how to transform your digital photos to be more film-like using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. To join The Look Magazine, click the link in our bio and go to “Our Website.” Navigate to “Join Us” and apply to the team of your liking. If you were a member last year, you need to re-apply. Be sure to also join our Slack to stay updated with other announcements.

Thursday, September 8th at 6:30 PM we will be having our first general body meeting of the semester! The location will be posted on our Instagram next week. This will be an informational meeting and is open to everyone! Come with any questions you may have, and bring your friends 🫶🏼

We mourn the loss of our beloved friend Ethan Donovan. Ethan was loved by so many and truly cared for everyone. He always knew how to make you feel included and enjoy your time together. Ethan’s witty remarks, kindness, and unique style always drew people to him, and to be his friend was to be loved and accepted unconditionally. He truly was one of a kind and we are so grateful to have had him in our founding year as a magazine—it wouldn’t have been the same without him. We love you Ethan and you will be so so missed ❤️

CAPTURE REALITY, CONNECT WITH NATURE

Matt Hall is a second year anthropology major with a love for photography. After beginning to explore the craft his sophomore year of high school, Matt became inspired by the nature around him and realized he can use photos as a way to express his perception of reality.

“The Earth is a beautiful place, but many of us are losing touch with nature. In pursuing photography, I hope to give others the same appreciation I have for the place we call home.”

Matt’s process for the perfect shot comes in about a days work. He begins the journey with getting up early, packing a bag, and catching a ride to wherever he wants to go; but once he get there he often ends up walking around for miles just setting up shots and taking as many photos as he can. He always makes sure he takes his time to ensure the balance of the visual weight, and utilizes the editing room to further perfect his work.

FLEETING MOMENTS ON FILM

Calleigh Backrak, 3rd Year Rhetoric & Writing Studies Major, started film photography six years ago when her brother gifted her a Nikon FM for her birthday. Since then, she has fallen in love with the meditative process.
"Frame your shot, adjust the aperture and shutter speed, click the shutter release, and advance to the next shot."

Calleigh's work captures the fleeting and still moments she has witnessed life's beauty. Inspired by her brother's work and other photographers such as Peggy Fleming, Brendon Burton, and Dorothea Lange, Calleigh pushes herself creatively as she portrays stories of her own experience and view of the world.
