It's been a couple of days since we exposed the ineptitude of the current administration and the Senate in monitoring and containing the present outbreak on campus. Since there, there has not been any acknowledgement or change in the stance of the administration pertaining to the crisis. As such, we will still go ahead and list out the updates, which is a really short list, since the article has been posted. The updates are as follows:
Institute Administration: Predictably, there has been no discernible change in their attitude towards handling the outbreak. It appears as if even taking cognizance of the student's issues is their major phobia. We dream of the day when the callous administration would return from their cozy day dreaming and work for the students, for a change.
Senate: The Senate members can be seen reveling now that halls have been relaxing the current lockdown and allowing the students to mingle freely. If the Senate members do find enough time from their hectic schedule of dilly dallying, we ask them to be on the frontline of managing the situation. We only ask from them what they promised while campaigning, nothing more.
"News" Media Bodies: While one major media body cannot understandably point a finger at the mishaps by the institute, we are befuddled as to why the 'independent' student-run campus 'newspaper' has not been reporting or publishing any news about such a major issue at campus. Not publishing relevant news has been their mantra for long, but one would confidently expect an 'independent journalistic' account with such reach to have posted at the least a single question to the callous institute.
We do however, find solace in the fact that we have shed light on the mishandling from the administration and initiated a conversation among the students of the institute. This provides us with even greater motivation to continue publishing and surfacing the voices and frustrations of the students in the form of articles, which other organizations lack the spine to publish.
"If journalism is good, it is controversial, by its nature."
