WAS THE MENTAL HEALTH IMPACT OF LOCKDOWNS PREDICTABLE?

At the Lockdowns Summit, child psychologist Dr. Zenobia Storah answered this question. She highlighted that the population was already in a state of a mental health crisis at the beginning of the pandemic.

Fear-based messaging from the government, and extraordinary confinement rules which went against everything we know to be healthy, amplified this crisis significantly. She emphasizes that regular social interaction and contact are essential for our health and our survival.

SHOULD WE BE VACCINATING CHILDREN AGAINST COVID? 🧐

Dr. Antony Hinton presented at the Lockdown Summit in July 2021, and here he points out that the two major reasons for the case of children being vaccinated against Covid, don’t exist. He lays out the fundamental facts that children do not get severely ill from Covid, nor do they have any enhanced transmissibility as is evident in real-world data.

Prof David Livermore makes a clear statement: We are NOT going to eradicate Covid, and that we must learn to live with it. He says there is only one virus we’ve ever been able to eradicate: smallpox! He notes the complexity of the SARS-CoV2 virus, and that even ‘Track & Trace’ has had no effect in containing it, nor will it ever. It will evolve in time to be just one more common cold.

Professor Frank Furedi is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the University of Kent in Canterbury, and a regular social commentator. For years, Frank has been extensively cited about his views on why Western cultures find it so difficult to engage with risk and uncertainty.

‘And it seems to me that what we have to come back and argue, and it might seem very reactive or old fashioned or weird, is the very very simple idea that for us, the old normal was good enough. And for us, the old normal was the product of centuries of intellectual, political and scientific struggle and achievement. That the old normal is not something we simply give up, in order to fatalistically embrace the advice of experts who can decide for us what normalcy will be. Because what is normal should not be the product of people discussing normalcy in a laboratory. What is normal should be the product of debate and discussion between people like you and me.’

The ‘Lockdowns Summit’ was hosted by Question Everything on the 17th July 2021 at a prestigious conference centre in London. This was the first summit to critically assess the global response to covid-19, and explore how the world can responsibly begin to live with the virus.

The summit featured a multi-disciplinary panel of 18 experts from science, social sciences, law and industry who presented a series of talks, panel discussions and open Q&A sessions to address the question 'Is NOW the time for a better solution?'
