3,700,000 active cases and counting. As the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic storms the hospitals in India leaving no soul untouched, the country crumbles on Twitter and Instagram with requests for hospital beds, ICUs, oxygen, ventilators, plasma and other essential services.

With a lockdown being most imposed later than never, migrants flock the country in hopes of reaching their hometown instead of being stuck at this new Epicenter. Coupled with shortages of testing and staffs. The turmoil continues.

Looking at this dire situation, we at Epicenter are trying our best to connect those in need with the available resources on social media. Calling in every hospital in the city in hopes of finding a single bed for those in need, and using twitter bots to find leads in the city to verifying oxygen suppliers with stock in real time, the job is far from done.

Epicenter plans to start a donation drive that aims to provide oxygen concentrators to government hospitals to meet the needs of as many as possible. We aim in eliminating the middlemen and providing direct access to oxygen concentrators to those in need by assisting government healthcare centres in acquiring them.

By avoiding the middlemen, we aspire to prevent any misuse of funds and delays in the funds being accessible. This dreadful wave of COVID-19 has caught us unprepared, but we can help carry our country out of this disarray by coming together. Yesterday, 12th August, P Naveen the nephew of the congress MLA, Akhanda Srinivas Murthy for the district Pulakeshinagar took to Facebook stating derogatory comments against the Islamic community. These comments led to violence breaking out in the constituency along with a public comment by the INC’s political candidate Syed Mujahid- nominated corporator of the district Shivajinagar, who in a Facebook post condemns the actions of P Naveen and also posts a video indicating his desire to join hundreds of protestors in their attempts to bring justice.

As of April 2020 over a third of Poland has been declared intolerant of the LGBTQ+ community. Digital payments are on the rise, from virtual wallets to cryptocurrency, the form of money as we know it could diminish in the blink of an eye, and this is a very real possibility and not just a regular claim. However, in order to actually understand the resulting effects of this transition, not many people actually talk about what really the tossed around term “Bitcoin” actually means or what really is this revolutionary technology called “Blockchain”? It’s imperative that we understand what our money will look like in the next few years, and if it really has the potential to revolutionize the financial industry and more importantly, our day to day lives themselves.
