Political interests that pushed mundigi to become Embu senator.
When Jb muturi called off his presidential ambition last year and decided to support Dr.Ruto for president by his party joing kenya kwanza, a number of new developments started to roll.
Hon.muturi, then democratic party leader, knew too well he needed to work smart and deliver his votes to kenya kwanza if he was to be considered for anything at the big decision table. With a weak party to sell against a powerful UDA in the region, the current Attorney General strategically threw all his weight behind Cesily mutitu Mbarire as his Governor candidate for Embu never mind his own party-Dp, had a candidate, Mr. Njagi Kumatha,for the same position.
This was meant to please the Uda big boys who were in support of Governor mbarire. It was akin to killing your own to get to the promised land! Mr.Njagi kumatha was instantly killed politically.
A big meeting that thereafter took place at Jb muturi's kanyuambora home made it clear to the many invited supporters who muturi preferred moving forward: Cesily mbarire for Governor on UDA, Mundigi for senator-DP, Ruku for mbeere North Mp -DPand a number of Mca aspirants who vied on his party, DP.
The meeting, attended by close 3000 supporters from the mbeere region and who were paid ksh 5000 each, resolved to sell Jb's agenda across the region. In return, Governor cecily was asked to reciprocate the support gesture by campaigning for mundigi in the upper populous region covering manyatta and runyenjes. And she agreed.
Apparently fearing the heavy onslaught by the Bus candidate Lenny kivuti, this kind of support from Mbeere leadership was considered a big shot in the arm in her campaigns.
That was the beginning of Mundigi's big journey to the senate. Assured of Governor mbarire and Jb muturi's support, Mundigi's moment was like being born again. The highly opportunistic senator clung on mbarire's dress throughout the campaigns period upto the last minute.
In a clear and open show of partnership, when the President Ruto came for his last political rally at Embu town, Governor Cesily Mbarire whispered to Ruto's ears to allow Mundigi to greet the crowd due to what she said was " public demand". Dr.Ruto appeared only interested in selling his Uda candidates. But unkown to the public, Cesily was intelligently pushing the kanyuambora agreement.
Encouraged by this development, jb muturi poured his resources including his long campaign track to mundigi. When mundigi organized a mini fundsdrive at Gerish hotel, a number of KTDA directors who were aligned to Governor's camp sent in their support.
It would later on emerge, the same people who financially supported Governor Cesily mbarire in her campaigns are the same people who supported mundigi the last minute. It could not have been a coincidence.
Last sunday, while attending the Thanksgiving giving function for Privam nuts limited directors family at kibugu, senator mundigi said " i have come to join this family in their Thanksgiving. They sent me a lot of their money for my campaigns. I also wish to thank Ken java, Jim Tenri and others for supporting me really well with your money. God bless you."
It is the same group, it is said, that financed Governor mbarire's campaigns. In politics nothing happens by chance. The senator has since been declared a clown dut to his inability to articulate issues in national languages.
