TRAFFIC STOP IN SHREVEPORT YIELDS GUN AND NARCOTICS: 3 ARRESTED

On March 29th, 2023, around 6:24 a.m. members of the Shreveport Police Community Response Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

During the traffic stop, Officers contacted three males inside the vehicle. A roadside investigation revealed that the occupants were in possession of a half-pound of methamphetamine tablets, Ma*****na, and a firearm. Officers seized the handgun, a scale, and narcotics.

Marvin Robinson (7-14-85) was arrested for one count of possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, one count of a schedule two narcotic with intent to distribute, and one count of possession of a schedule one narcotic with intent to distribute.

Marcus Darby (10-17-81) was arrested for one count of a schedule two narcotic with intent to distribute, and one count of possession of a schedule one narcotic with intent to distribute.

Marquay Robinson (8-7-04) was arrested for one count of a schedule two narcotic with intent to distribute, and one count of possession of a schedule one narcotic with intent to distribute.

Due to Louisiana Law changes that advise that this offense is non-violent we are not permitted to release the offenders’ mugshots.

Texan guilty of burglary, weapons crime

A Big Sandy, Texas man was found guilty of burglary and weapons charges Friday, October 6, 2023, in Caddo District Court.

A five-woman, seven-man jury returns its guilty verdicts against David Ray Boswell Jr., 42, in District Judge Ramona Emanuel's court after deliberating less than an hour. The trial began Tuesday, October 3.

The jury returns its guilty as-charged verdicts on eight counts of simple burglary and one count of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, and found Boswell guilty responsively to one count of attempted aggravated burglary.

The evidence showed that on May 4, 2020, Boswell went on a burglary spree, burglarizing two vehicles at Shreve City Car Care and six vehicles on Preston Avenue.

Later, he entered the property of a Shreveport Police officer, burglarizing the garage and taking several items. While there, he fired a weapon, as shown by evidence. Fingerprints and multiple samples of blood were collected and were all determined to belong to Boswell.

Boswell will return to Judge Emanuel's court November 16, 2023 for sentencing. For attempted aggravated burglary, he faces at least five and up to 15 years in prison. For the simple burglary he faces up to 12 years in prison, and for the weapons charge he faces up to two years.

Boswell was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Senae Hall and Fernando Grider. He was defended by Royal Alexander and Evan McMichael.

The case was docket No. 375445.
