What are publishers looking for in 2024 💫 part 2: should I write in a trendy genre? ✍🏼 As much as we enjoy talking about trends in the publishing industry, when it comes to your writing, I don’t firmly believe that thinking about trends is all that useful. ✍🏼 If you happen to be writing in one of these genres that is supposedly trending this year, that’s great. ✍🏼 But if you’re not, please don’t get discouraged. books across all genres get published year after year, and go on to be best sellers in their niche. ❌ I don’t think it’s very productive for authors to think they should only be writing in trending genres. 👍🏼 Instead, focus on the stories you want to tell, and focus on the genres that you personally enjoy writing in. ✍🏼 That is going to show on the page, and what’s most important is writing a story that means something to you and that you feel compelled to share with readers.
