"Women can bring diverse perspectives to decision-making processes, fostering innovation and creativity within financial institutions. We serve as mentors and empower other women within the industry, helping to break down barriers and create pathways for advancement.

We are also examples to the next generation, whether to our own daughters or other young women, that we should feel confident in our abilities and contributions to an industry where we are the minority. Through our leadership, we can challenge existing norms and biases, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and equitable finance industry for everyone."

"When I first started in the financial industry, I quickly realized that the typical client meeting was led by a male advisor meeting with a middle-aged, male client, who many would refer to as the ‘CFO of the household.’ When I came to BFG, I saw the benefits of meeting with both spouses and incorporating goals from both parties to devise a financial plan. We often hear about the emergence of women advisors, but over the years I think we have seen more women in general taking more control of their finances and being active participants in their family’s financial future by speaking out about what’s important to them and not just being along for the ride."

It's and we're celebrating the women who make our company so special. We asked Coral Bruce about the most impactful challenge she has faced in her career. Here is what she had to say:

"One of the most impactful challenges I've faced in my career as a woman has been equally managing work and home life. Early in my career, I had to turn down opportunities for promotions because I didn’t know how to juggle a young family and the longer hours that would come with the advancements.

My mother was a financial advisor and I remember when she had to take a step back from her fulfilling career for a few years to be more present at home. I don’t believe this challenge is exclusive to the financial industry; it's a struggle that transcends all professions. In today's society, balancing career responsibilities with personal life has become equally challenging for both men and women, highlighting the evolving dynamics of work-life balance in modern times.

I am so very grateful that BFG encourages and supports work-life balance so that I don’t feel I am falling short with either my career or family responsibilities."

"Sharing my story and being a sounding board for others helps women advance their careers in the industry because they know they are not alone–others have helped pave the path for their way forward. The one piece of advice I give to everyone is to find a mentor. Someone you can share struggles and successes with, who can challenge you and be your advocate."

"I’m big on mantras. First, ask yourself, 'Who do you want to be? What is it you want to do?' Then, go for it! Tell yourself, 'You can do this!' When things get hard, remind yourself that you can do this! When mistakes are made, learn from them. Self-reflect, adapt, and try again.

Keep in mind that although self-motivation can be a major driver, support is equally essential in achieving success. Offer support to those around you and be open to asking for help and accepting support when offered to you. Look for that support from various avenues–a mentor or coach, a manager or other staff, or even friends and family."
