A docent-led tour is one of the most essential parts of The Dalí Museum experience. Docents are our storytellers—at the heart of our educational mission, they preserve Dalí's legacy for future generations. ✨

Meet Dale. 👋

Dale has been a docent for the past year and was drawn to becoming one after taking several guided tours during his trips to the Museum from New York, where he lived for many years.

"Life is not a dress rehearsal; I only do fun things. I love the excitement and challenge of conducting a tour. I come from an MBA 'corporate type' foundation, so Dalínian history is a new endeavor. I love meeting the patrons for questions after the tour, not just to give them an answer but to engage with fascinating folks from around the globe. One fun tidbit I always share on my tours is that in 1976, at the age of 72, Dalí painted his 'Portrait of Abraham Lincoln' in his studio at the St. Regis Hotel in New York, where he and Gala always stayed in room 1610 during the winters since 1934. I had only known Dalí's Surrealist works, but I've now seen him as an early Impressionist artist, plus his Nuclear Mysticism styles, but my favorite work is 'The Hallucinogenic Toreador.' The 'Dalí's Drawings' exhibit we had a few months back was key to broadening my education and learning of his jewelry and costume designs."

It’s official! We are in the the race in two categories with official submission to the 96th Academy Award In The Shadow Of Beirut by Stephen Gerard Kelly and Garry Keane.

IN THE SHADOW OF BEIRUT is a searing cinematic portrait of modern-day Lebanon as seen through the eyes of four families living in the impoverished Sabra and Shatila neighborhoods of the city, scene of an infamous massacre in 1982. Filmed over four years with unique access to the families within these largely no-go areas for outsiders, the documentary is marked by a deep intimacy with its subjects and a bold cinematic style, with much of its visual and character-led storytelling sharing creative DNA with the team's earlier film, Gaza.

Academy Members can now watch the film in the Academy Screening Room.
