The Last Sociables’ most popular song ‘Perfect Circle’, has reached 1000 streams on Spotify! This is a huge milestone for both TLS and us, as this, along with over 600 monthly listeners, an amazing save rate and the total EP streams closing in on 2k, are great numbers for our first release from both of us, especially with the low fan base we both had being new to the scene.

We appreciate the support guys, cheers for the streams.

Popular Indoors EP is out now. If you haven't listened, then you can find a link to all your favourite streaming sites below. Over the course of the next 6 days I will reveal the story behind each track and the lyrics, today it’s the sixth and final track, Watch this space.

Written in 2017. This was written just after a holiday in Cyprus with my partner and parents – it was to be my dad’s last holiday as he had recently been given a terminal diagnosis. I think I subconsciously wanted to lighten myself up and escape a little bit and it was written and recorded over two days. Lyrically, it’s about reality talent shows; putting people under a spotlight they are ill prepared to be under and flooding the music industry with manufactured pop music.

Everybody’s skirtin’ no one wants to know,
But not talking about it won’t make it go,
Nothings there for learning are we playing dumb?
Why don’t you take your middle finger and put it under my thumb?

Watch this space
Watch this space
You know not what is coming, but you don’t wanna be late
You wake up in the morning with the limelight on your face.

No one is performing but they’re getting paid,
No one is forming but they’re getting made.
Everyone is judging a soul out on its own,
It’s difficult to objectify you made that song your own.

Watch this space
Watch this space
You know not what is coming, but you don’t wanna be late
You wake up in the morning with the limelight on your face.

You know not what is coming, but you don’t wanna be late
You wake up in the morning with the limelight on your face.
Watch this space

Watch this space
Watch this space
You know not what is coming, but you don’t wanna be late
You wake up in the morning with the limelight on your face.

You know not what is coming
The limelight on your face
You know not what is coming
You know not what is coming

You know not what is coming, but you don’t wanna be late
You wake up in the morning with the limelight on your face.

Popular Indoors EP is out now. If you haven't listened, then you can find a link to all your favourite streaming sites below. Over the course of the next 6 days I will reveal the story behind each track and the lyrics, today it’s the fifth track, One of a kind.

Written in 2016. An attempt to write a good old-fashioned love song but trying to avoid writing something overly sentimental; I hoped that the lyrics are playful enough to avoid that cliched approach. I just wanted them to be relatable enough to make people smile. The song is more about finding love in your 30’s and is split into two sections: the first section is the feeling of elation and the excitement that comes with a new relationship; the second is the overwhelming sense of fear and vulnerabilities you feel. This song is very personal and is written about and dedicated to my fiancée, Charlotte.

We met on a Saturday,
Amid a crowd of freaks,
You seem to like my jokes but were you really laughing at me?
We talked for hours without a pause for breath,
And when we kissed the world it stopped but I’m not getting off yet.

If it’s a complicated maths problem or an intricate story line,
If it’s a German instruction manual or Welsh sign,
You supplied me with answers and helped me see my mind.
I’ll show you what you mean to me, you’re one of a kind.

I scratched the surface to reveal the prize underneath,
Beauty really doesn’t run skin deep,
You radiate goodness you knocked me off my feet,
You got so much love to give and you’re giving it to me.

If it’s a complicated maths problem or an intricate story line,
If it’s a German instruction manual or Welsh sign,
You supplied me with answers and helped me see my mind.
I’ll show you what you mean to me, you’re one of a kind.

It came out of nowhere took us both by surprise,
But when somethings meant to be who are we to deny?
It’s hasn’t always been easy sometimes we both cried,
But we’re together now and that makes me so proud.
And the day will come when I stand up in full view
And announce the World that I love you.
I love you

Popular Indoors EP is out now. If you haven't listened, then you can find a link to all your favourite streaming sites below. Over the course of the next 6 days I will reveal the story behind each track and the lyrics, today it’s the fourth track, Do You Ever Call My Name?

Written in 2019 on the piano. Always searching for a good ballad type song, the chord sequence seemed to lend itself to one and was written from there. Lyrically, this is about worrying about someone close to you being subjected to bullying and being unable to help. You hope the thought of you is enough to get them through.

Headfirst into a brick wall,
When everyone around you is so derisive?
Do you remain human through it all?
Even though you’re so indecisive.

Do you ever call my name?
Do you ever call my name?
Do you ever call, and do I answer?
Do you ever call my name?

What’s with all this bad blood?
No one seems to value you as much as they should.
Do you remain resilient through it all?
Even though you feel no bloody good.

Do you ever call my name?
Do you ever call my name?
Do you ever call, and do I answer?
Do you ever call my name?

Popular Indoors EP is out now. If you haven't listened, then you can find a link to all your favourite streaming sites below. Over the course of the next 6 days I will reveal the story behind each track and the lyrics, today it’s the third track, Newtons Cradle.

Written somewhere between 2006 and 2009, this song has remained pretty much unchanged from the original. The chords were written first using an open G tuning on the guitar. Inspiration for the lyrics came on a Christmas shopping trip browsing a gadget shop in Derby. One of the items was a Newtons Cradle which I thought was a good metaphor for trying to get away from someone who has a hold over you. The song was written later that day.

I don’t think I like it,
Being your toy,
Being placed on your desk,
Keep you amused when you’re bored

I don’t think I like it.
Being your Newtons Cradle.

It’s the third law motion,
A fairly simple thing,
I try to swing away but,
You pull be back in.

I don’t think I like it.
Being your Newtons Cradle.

I stuck on your string,
In a permanent swing,
I feel restrained.

I don’t think I like it,
Toing and fro,
You released the energy,
When you let me go.

I don’t think I like it.
Being your Newtons Cradle.

Popular Indoors EP is out now. If you haven't listened, then you can find a link to all your favourite streaming sites below. Over the course of the next 6 days I will reveal the story behind each track and the lyrics starting with the first track, Popular Indoors.

“Originally an acoustic track but with odd timing; this song was written around 2005 about life on MSN & Yahoo messengers. Over the years it seemed to have gained more relevance with how people live their social life via social media. It was re-recorded during the Covid-19 lockdown; the lyrics were modernised slightly to reflect social media’s current state of play.”

The buzz of my phone that means,
That I’m more popular than the queen,
But virtual’s not quite the same,
Isn’t that a great big shame!

And I type, I type to you,
Got more friends than there’s animals in the zoo,
And I know it’s not the same and I should get out some more,
But I’m more popular indoors for sure.

The text on my screen that means,
That I’m sharing all of my dreams,
And I use the space to show the look on my face,
Without actually feeling a thing.

And I type, I type to you,
Got more friends than there’s animals in the zoo,
And I know it’s not the same and I should get out some more,
But I’m more popular indoors for sure.

And I couldn’t imagine,
Getting disconnected from you,
If ever it happened,
I don’t know if I could get through.

The light on my screen that means,
That I’ve decided to deem,
Her as my lover, him as my friend,
All of this is pretend.

And I type, I type to you,
Got more friends than there’s animals in the zoo,
And I know it’s not the same and I should get out some more,
But I’m more popular indoors for sure.

And I type, I type to you,
Got more friends than there’s animals in the zoo,
And I know it’s not the same and I should get out some more,
But I’m more popular indoors.
For sure.

Popular Indoors EP is out now. If you haven't listened, then you can find a link to all your favourite streaming sites below. Over the course of the next 6 days I will reveal the story behind each track and the lyrics, today it’s the second track, Perfect Circle.

Written somewhere between 2006 and 2009, this song originally started out as an acoustic track. The aim was to write something that you could tap your foot along to with a little bit of funk. The original recording of this song was entered into a song writing contest from a now defunct website: overplay.com. It came third and was reviewed as “Kasabian meets Neil Tennant”. Today, it’s a lot heavier and rockier. Lyrically, it’s about the desire for things to be perfect.

If something is broken, can it be fixed?
When I have fallen, can you give me a lift?
If you’re struggling for reason, nothing makes no sense.
Apologies darlin’ I got no answers.

And we all want to form a perfect circle,
Both sides meeting at the end.
And we all want to form a perfect circle,
An equal distance ‘round the bend.

If my feet are grounded, but I’m up in the air,
Would you help me find my equilibrium?
If you think the evening follow the night,
Apologies darlin’ you’re not quite right.

And we all want to form a perfect circle,
Both sides meeting at the end.
And we all want to form a perfect circle,
An equal distance ‘round the bend.
