NEW YEAR MESSAGE: ODUSANYA FELICITATES WITH THE RESIDENTS, PLEDGES ENHANCED DEVELOPMENT AND REFORMS IN 2025

The Executive Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Mr. 'Bolaji Odusanya, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the residents of the Local Government on the occasion of the New Year.

This was conveyed in a New Year message issued by his office in Ijebu Igbo, the headquarters of the Local Government.

Mr. Odusanya expressed profound gratitude to the people of Ijebu North for their steadfast support and cooperation throughout 2024, acknowledging their contributions to the progress achieved so far.

The council chairman reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing people-centric initiatives and developmental projects aimed at positioning Ijebu North among the leading local governments beyond the shore of Ogun State.

“As we usher in the year 2025, it is imperative to build on the solid foundation we have laid by introducing and completing more human-centered projects that will catalyze development and elevate our Local Government’s standing,” he stated.

Mr. Odusanya further announced plans for comprehensive policy reforms designed to significantly enhance the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the Local Government.

“We are introducing measures to close any existing loopholes in our revenue collection processes. To this end, a restructured IGR generation team will be inaugurated to streamline and harmonize our revenue streams, ensuring efficiency in both existing and newly identified income sources,” he explained.

He called on the residents of Ijebu North to remain united and steadfast in their efforts toward fostering a safer, more prosperous Local Government.

“As we welcome the year 2025, let us continue to work collaboratively for the collective good of Ijebu North, ensuring it remains a beacon of progress and development,” he concluded.

The Executive Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Mr 'Bolaji Odusanya, felicitates the Christian faithful at the 2024 Christmas.

The Christmas celebration message was signed by the office of the Chairman on Tuesday in Ijebu Igbo, the Local Government capital.

Bolaji said that Christmas was a time to reflect on the compassion, Love and blessings the birth of Jesus Christ bestowed upon Christians and humanity, which is to embrace and spread the virtues of the spirit of Love, hope, sacrifice, peace and joy to all and sundry.

He admonished the Christian faithful to appreciate the love they had for one another and to extend acts of kindness and compassion to the needy in society.

“I want us to use this season to spread and preach love, hope and goodwill to build bridges and promote harmony among ourselves and our communities"

“We must all come together as One and play our own part to triumph over the challenges in the country,” Bolaji said.

The Council boss also implored the people of the Local Government to maintain law and order as the two tools strengthened hope which ignited progress and helped in building a better future.

“As we celebrate Christmas, let us remember the power of unity, love, and sacrifice. Let us forge ahead into the coming New Year and harmonise ourselves by being our brother's keeper in building a rewarding and better future we all can be proud of".

“It is my prayer that this festive season brings us closer to our dreams and may our aspirations to achieve greatness together become a reality". He prayed!

The Executive Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Mr. 'Bolaji Odusanya, FCIA, officially welcomed the newly deployed State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, Commandant Remilekun Ẹkúndayọ̀, at the Conference Room of the Chairman's Office in Ijebu Igbo, the Local Government Secretariat.

Commandant Ekundayo paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman to introduce herself, congratulate him on his reelection, inaugurate key projects, and discuss strategies to bolster the existing collaboration between the NSCDC and the Local Government. The goal of the discussions was to enhance the security of lives and property within Ijebu North and Ogun State as a whole.

In his remarks, Mr. Bolaji Odusanya commended the NSCDC for its proactive role in maintaining peace and order in the Local Government. He noted that the Corps had significantly contributed to addressing security challenges and pledged his unwavering support for the Corps and other security agencies operating within the local government.

“All the Divisional Officers and heads in the Local Government have been remarkable, always responsive whenever we call. Kudos to them for their dedication, cooperation, and professionalism,” he said.

The Council Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary support to enable the NSCDC to fulfill its mandate effectively.

“We shall continue to do everything within our capacity to fulfill the command’s mandate in ensuring the safety of lives and critical infrastructure in our Local Government,” he stated.

“As a Local Government, being the tier of government closest to the people, we remain committed to playing our role in supporting your officers and other security agencies within this jurisdiction,” Odusanya added.

In her response, Commandant Ekundayo expressed gratitude to the Executive Chairman for his continuous support for the Corps. She assured him of her readiness to work closely with the Local Government to address any security concerns in Ijebu North and across Ogun State.

She outlined plans to enhance the operational capacity of the NSCDC in the Local Government, including the deployment of additional personnel and the provision of advanced professional training for Corps officers.

“First, let me congratulate the Executive Chairman on his reelection, and I want to thank you for your unwavering support for our officers and the security infrastructure of this Local Government,” she said.

“I assure you of our complete dedication and commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property, not just in Ijebu North but across Ogun State,” she concluded.

During the visit, Commandant Ekundayo received a newly donated operational vehicle from the Atikori Community for the NSCDC office in Ijebu Igbo. The Executive Chairman, Mr. Bolaji Odusanya, alongside the Keegbo of Atikori, Oba Ibitoye Solaja, JP, formally handed over the operational vehicle to Commandant Ekundayo.

JFA Launches Women Empowerment and Development Initiative (WEDI): A Lifeline for the Masses

In line with his campaign promise to uplift the lives of constituents, Hon. Joseph Folorunsho Adegbesan (JFA) has established the JFA Women Empowerment and Development Initiative (WEDI). This initiative is designed to empower and support the masses across his Federal Constituency, regardless of political affiliation.

The program caters to:

Small-Scale Traders and Market Women: Both young and old market women will benefit from financial support to expand their businesses.

Artisans and Youths: Recently trained artisans will receive materials and tools needed to kickstart their careers.

Elderly Citizens: The program will provide cash and food packages delivered to the elderly at their homes.

Key Features of the WEDI Program:

Financial support of ₦50,000 for petty traders and SMEs.

Distribution of cash and foodstuffs to elderly citizens.

Establishment of a cooperative society program to enable easy and prompt access to zero-interest loans, starting at a minimum of ₦100,000, tailored to traders' market sizes.

Since its establishment months ago, WEDI officials have undertaken extensive surveys and consultations. They have visited markets, homes, and shops across the constituency, interviewing residents to understand their immediate needs, especially in the face of ongoing economic reforms.

The maiden edition of the WEDI program will officially kick off on Monday, December 9, starting in Ijebu North Local Government as a pilot scheme before expanding to Ijebu North East and Ogun Waterside Local Governments.

The initial focus will be on marketplaces, including:

Awa Market

Obada Market

Atikori Market

Oke Agbo (Anaye Market)

Mamu Market

Itale Ọjọ Market

The program aims to prioritize the poorest of the poor, transcending political divides to focus on the general welfare of the people.

I AM COMMITTED TO THE ISEYA MANTRA OF HIS EXCELLENCY, GOV. DAPO ABIODUN, CON

The Executive Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Mr. 'Bolaji Odusanya, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the ISEYA mantra of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Executive Governor of Ogun State. Mr. Odusanya made this declaration while addressing the Press Club of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, comprising Mass Communication students of the institution.

The press delegation, led by Dr. Aro Adebisi Kazeem, a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, had earlier covered the local government election held on November 16, 2024. Their interest in meeting Mr. Odusanya was piqued by his historic achievement as the first-ever Executive Chairman in the local government’s history to secure a rerun ticket and be returned for a second term.

Responding to their questions, Mr. Odusanya attributed his re-election to the divine will of God, the overwhelming support of the people, and his resolute dedication to the progressive transformation of Ijebu North Local Government. He emphasized that his administration remains focused on aligning with the ISEYA mantra; Infrastructure Development; Social Welfare and Well-being; Education and Human Calital; Youth Empowerment; and, Agriculture and Food Security, under the visionary leadership of Governor Abiodun.

He took the opportunity to advise the students to shun all forms of social vices, maintain clarity of purpose in their aspirations, and work diligently towards achieving their goals. “You must strive to be good ambassadors of your institution, your families, and the nation. Your contributions, no matter how small, are crucial to the development of our society,” he remarked.

The Executive Chairman further commended the students for their proactive engagement with governance and encouraged them to sustain their intellectual curiosity, which he described as pivotal to the growth of democracy and nation-building.

The meeting ended with assurances of continued collaboration between Ijebu North Local Government and youth-led initiatives that promote education, ethics, and community development.

The Executive Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Mr. Bolaji Odusanya, has assured the leadership of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ijebu North that their concerns and demands will be addressed under his administration.

Mr. Odusanya, fondly called "BJ," made this promise during a courtesy visit by the NYSC Local Government Inspector (LGI), Mr. Esho Oyekunle, and a delegation of Corps Members to his office following his reelection in the recently concluded Local Government elections.

Expressing his gratitude for their visit, the Council Chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare and security of Corps Members serving in Ijebu North. He commended the Corps Members for their resilience, creativity, and dedication, particularly in their contributions to education and youth development in the Local Government Area.

“I am aware of the challenges you face, especially regarding accommodation and stipends. I want to assure you that my administration will do everything possible to address these issues comprehensively,” Odusanya stated.

He further called on philanthropists and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the Local Government to collaborate with the government in supporting NYSC members to complement official efforts.

Earlier, the NYSC Local Government Inspector, Mr. Esho Oyekunle, had presented the Corps Members' concerns to the Chairman, appealing for improved accommodation facilities and the provision of stipends for serving members in the area.

The Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Omooba Wale Bello; the Assistant Local Government Inspector (ALGI), Mr. Akinsanya Idowu; the Corps Liaison Officer (CLO), Miss Ilori Oluwaseyi; and other officials of both the local government and the NYSC were present during the meeting.
