The mighty edifice of Aga Khan Palace is situated in Pune and was built by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III in the year 1892. It is one of the most important landmarks in Indian history and has been instrumental in many defining moments of India’s independence. It was once the site where Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi, as well as Sarojini Naidu and Mahadev Desai were held prisoners. Aga Khan Palace is well known both for its architectural excellence as well as its historical significance. Spread over a vast land of 19 acres, the palace is now the headquarters of the Gandhi National Memorial society. Here, making khadi is still one of the prime activities.

The grand Aga Khan Palace is set in a peaceful wooded 6.5-hectare plot northeast of the centre. Built in 1892 by Sultan Aga Khan III, this graceful building was where Mahatma Gandhi and other prominent nationalist leaders were interned by the British following Gandhi’s Quit India campaign in 1942.

The amalgamation of mystery, mythology, and adventure, Parashar Lake is a hidden gem of Himachal Pradesh. With Dhauladhar Ranges forming its backdrop the serene sight of the lake is what every heart needs to get rid of the tensions and worries of everyday life.
The floating island is one very fascinating characteristic of the lake. The island makes about 21% of the area of the lake while the remaining 79% is water, interestingly that is the same proportion that the Earth shares in respect of land and water. One fact that has been keeping the visitors on the edge is that the lake is believed to be the microcosm of the planet with the floating island being its axis of revolution. The island floats toward the east in the morning and reaches the west by the evening.

Tosh is a hidden gem with hardly any tourist crowds
Tosh is located at the far end of the Parvati Valley and does not attract too many tourists. People who visit Tosh prefer staying in their guest houses or hotel rooms enjoying their time and do not make a big fuss. This makes Tosh a great place for a quiet vacation amidst nature.

This TODA temple is one of the most incredible place to visit in OOTY. If you are interested to explore Indian culture this is goldmine for you. Not many people often go there. It’s a great example of diversity of Indian culture.

Toda tribe has their own language rather than tamil. They are one of the oldest tribes along with Kurumbas, Irulas, Paniyas,
Kattunayakas.

Constructed in the shape of a hut, the Toda Temple is a well-known shrine in Ooty. It is a shrine that is dedicated to the local tribal guardian God, Teikirshy

At sunrise, Polkarphol the Toda priest, crawls out of the low doorway of the arched bamboo and grass temple. Behind him, the houses of the mundh (hamlet are clustered together and in front of him is the round stone enclosure for the sacred buffaloes. He washes up with water in a bamboo vessel and facing the rising sun offers his morning prayers. Then entering the temple he attempts to bring to life the glowing embers kept safe overnight in its wooden receptacle. He churns the nirrsche, a device made of two pieces of wood, to produce a flame. Next he goes to the river to bring water to wash the ritual vessels. After putting the rice to cook, he goes to milk the buffaloes.

Located in Bikaner, the Junagarh fort is one of the most impressive fort complexes in India. Junagarh fort was built by Raja Rai Singh in 1588 AD. Junagarh fort is one of those few forts that are not built on a hilltop. The fort complex consists of palaces, courtyards, pavilions and balconies. The walls palaces etc. are ornamented with carved stones, marbles, paintings and inlaid semi-precious stones. Each palace in the Junagarh fort complex was built by a different ruler over the centuries.

📍 Shri Vadakkumnatha Temple

This beautifully-architected temple is said to be over a 1000 years old and reflects Kerala’s true values, culture and traditions. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this grand temple never fails to grab attention of its visitors. It is believed to be the first Shiva temple built by Lord Purasurama (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu). The temple has three main shrines devoted to Lord Shiva (Sri Vadakkumnathan), Lord Rama and Lord Shankara Narayana, respectively. There is a shrine for Goddess Parvati too. Outside the main temple, there are two smaller temples dedicated to Thiruvambadi and Paramekkavu Devi also.
