How strange is it that some people *really* don’t like it when a woman loves herself.
Some people say I’m:
🍦too fat - as if it’s an insult?
👵🏻 too old - because I should be ashamed of having the privilege of growing old?
🍈🍈 my girls are saggy or too far apart - thank you breastfeeding
And I find it so strange. Just look at the video @cluskk posted about getting cheated on (and the subsequent epic responses).
The audacity of a gorgeous (conventionally attractive) woman being told she’s pretty and beautiful all her life and she…agrees with them 😱 But the thing is, whether you’re conventionally attractive or not, have pretty privilege or not, the world tries so hard to tell women they aren’t “enough”, as if they aren’t the literal reason for your continued existence.
I am a feminist, I believe that both sexes are capable of amazing things. I believe that we are designed to complement one another (not just in coupling). Everyone has value that is not determined by appearances or what’s in your pants…
However…I believe women have stepped down from the pedestal for far too long. There is something extraordinary and magnificent when a women believes in herself, and taps into her feminity (however that looks and feels to you). It’s not the kind of power the patriarchy seeks, it’s the kind of power that heightens society as a whole…and boy does that terrify those who seek to control us.
….I’d love to hear your thoughts as long as they are coherent. #feminism #femaleempowerment #girlpower #momsover30

One of the things that isn’t talked about enough is how much your body truly changes - not just gaining weight, but my hips widened significantly after my first pregnancy, and learning what clothes felt comfortable (outside of leggings), was a real challenge.
I had 2 c-sections so I’ve also been left with the dreaded #csectionshelf (#apronbelly) Not to mention I was still heavily influenced by diet culture, and tying my body to my worth. It took me a long time to appreciate and accept my new body after having kids.
It takes time, and it takes making a conscious decision to stop comparing yourself to others. I still have my moments, but overall, I love myself, and I no longer care about the opinions of strangers.
