TRUST, CONVENIENCE AND RESULTS ‼️

These three things were the number one thing in my mind as I was setting up my onboarding process.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I POST?

It’s a question I see come up a lot. Most people believe that you have to post daily or even 2-3 times a day to have a better chance of getting seen, but that’s not true!
When it comes to social media, consistency > quantity.
Social platforms want to promote and push posts from people that are consistently using their app. If you can post 3 times a day and not get burnt out, all power to you! But for many, especially business owners, that is not a realistic goal to set. It is much better to post 3 times a week for several weeks in a row.

So whatever the amount of times you post in a week is, just be sure that it is a goal that you can actually reach and keep up with.

It’s been awhile, friends!😊
I had a ton of personal things to take care of, and needed a break from social media for awhile. But I’m back, and I want to introduce myself a bit more!

🐾 I’m a 27 year old midwesterner living in the south.
🐾 My best friend is my two year old daughter. She’s a messy, crazy toddler but I love her ❤️
🐾 My background is in dog daycare, boarding, training and grooming facilities. I was a manager for 5 years, and my favorite part was running the social media accounts! I also have been pet sitting since I was a teenager for family and clients.
🐾 The hardest part of social media as a pet business is making sure your business is portrayed as a safe place or product for clientele’s pets. Working a facility and dealing with the same complaints you get is a huge advantage, and I work YOUR business beliefs into my strategy.
🐾 My current job is AMAZING. I’m a pet nanny for a couple with ten animals, full time and love spending my days with them.
🐾 I’m neurodivergent, outspoken and love to answer questions to help people better understand 💜
🐾 My creativity thrives in the digital world, but don’t ask me to draw anything 😅
🐾 I started this social media manager journey to fill a gap in the industry I love so much. My goal is to improve your online presence, whether that’s through education or completely removing it from your plate!
🐾 I’m incredibly open (sometimes to a fault), but it’s important to me to create genuine relationships with people. I feel that being vulnerable is a big part of that!

My girls Sammie, Trixie and Maci want to wish everyone a happy National Pet Day!

💛Trixie is a 11 year old Pomeranian, and I’ve known her since the day she was born. She is what started my journey as a dog owner and professional. Not mention a love for poms!

🖤Sammie is my rescue girl! We think she’s about 7 years old. She was left at the boarding facility I worked at and I took her home as soon as I could. She is my Velcro dog and absolutely follows me everywhere.

💚 Maci is my 4 year old kitty! She’s very sweet when she wants to be but tends to be aloof most of the time. She’s definitely more my boyfriend’s cat than mine 😅

If you run a pet care business, you’ve probably heard one of these questions from your clients:

👩🏼 “Why haven’t I seen photos of Fluffy on Facebook?”
👨🏾”When will you be posting photos?”
👩🏼‍🦳 “How can I check on Fluffy while he’s here?”

Look, OF COURSE we want to keep our clients updated and happy. But when you’re running a busy pet business, the safety and care of the pets is top priority!

So how do you combat this?

1️⃣ Set Expectations:
When welcoming a new client, set the expectation up front on how often you post photos and if those photos include every dog.

2️⃣ Be Transparent:
It’s natural for a pet parent to be nervous leaving their pet in your care! Clearly cover how their pet’s stay will be. The goal is to build trust!

3️⃣ Answer Honestly:
Inevitably, you will eventually get one of these comments on your post. Instead of hiding or ignoring it, answer honestly! There’s nothing wrong with telling your clients that you prioritize animal care over social media. That will go a long way with current and potential clients that will see the reply!

I’m not saying to totally stop trying to post photos of your furry clients, but make sure it’s not at the expense of you, the pets or your employees’ physical or mental health!

Social Media isn't always about promoting to new clients, especially in pet care! 🐾

You want to keep your loyal clients around, and a great way do that AND attract new clients is to connect with them on social media! Showing pictures of you doing the amazing things you do with the pets is always something clients and prospective clients want to see. Engage with everyone!

Loyal clients are your greatest salespeople. According to Embedsocial.com, 92% of consumers say they trust recommendations from other consumers more than any other source! Testimonials and posts from clients are a great way to promote your business, but not be too pushy.

If you've ever tried to Google "How to grow my business on social media" you were probably overwhelmed at the amount of information you see! You could spend the time to watch the videos, do the research and gain the knowledge... but that's not the most efficient way to grow!

You have animals to take care of, and all the stress of social media takes away from them! Outsourcing to someone that has already put in the time and effort to learn these skills takes all that pressure off of you!

A great Social Media Manager gives you:
- A Social Media Strategy (not just posting!)
- Someone to be your "translator" into the language of social media
- Someone that know your business values, and can portray them online.
- Reports on how social media is growing your BUSINESS, not just your social account.

You may have noticed a bit of a change in the Status Pupdate page. We updated our branding!

What is branding exactly? Branding is basically your business's personality. By creating a brand kit and sticking you it, you are creating a "Brand Persona" that people can get to know! Think of what your brand would look and be like as a person.

Visual elements include:
- Brand Colors
- Brand Fonts
- Logo Variations
- An Aesthetic Mood Board

Branding also affects the verbal and written communication of your company.
- Voice: When responding to comments are you witty? Super Sweet? A little more serious? Your voice is what your brand is saying, both in actual words and in messaging.
- Attributes: What traits does your brand have? Some examples would be generous, upbeat and trustworthy. Think about what you want your brand to be known for, and what you DON'T want to be known for.

Having a written out, visual guide of what your feel your company represents can really help you make sure you're staying on task. Nowadays, it's way too easy to get distracted from your mission. If you don't have a Brand Kit, now is the time to start! They're easy to make on your own via Canva, or work with someone (like me!) to make one.

Is Canva Pro worth the money?

I get asked the question often, and my answer is YES is you plan on creating a lot of content! As a social media manager, I am constantly on Canva building graphics, creating videos and even scheduling posts. Here's my FAVORITE features that is only available in Pro:
1. Background remover- It's so easy; it only takes one click!
2. Access to a huge library of graphics, photos, and fonts.
3. The ability to build a brand kit with your branded fonts, logos and colors that is easily accessible from any design.

You can see how it is worth it for a lot of content creation! If you aren't planning on making a lot of content, such as someone that has a Social Media Manager that can do it for them, then the free version may be just fine for you. You can always try Canva's 30-day free trial for Pro and compare to help you make your decision.

Instagram is THE place to grow your social media organically, especially if your preferred clientele is younger. Which you should be! According to Spots.com, 73% of millennials own pets. They make up the largest slice of the pie coming in with 35% of all pets, followed by 32% being Generation X and Baby Boomers owning 27% of all pets.

My name is Bri Gardner, and I am a social media manager specializing in pet care businesses.

I aim to give you the most important thing you need as a business owner: TIME!
You take care of the pets, and I'll take care of keeping your followers, clients and potential clients up to date on all the amazing, hard work you and your staff do for their pets.

I was in dog daycare management for 5 years, have been in customer service for over a decade, and have a young lifetime of experience growing up in the social media era. Between sifting through "poo" pics, resolving the fear of seeing a dog's teeth, and making sure Fluffy's grandma sees enough photos of him on Facebook, I have had my fair share of social media challenges. I also know the mental stress that making sure your social media is up to your standards has. My mission is to relieve that stress, and have you enjoying your job again.
