Pulch is delighted to announce that our website is back up with a brand-new layout and design! ✨

Our team has been hard at work to get the website out on time, especially during the exam season, so we hope you're as excited about it as we are!

As the website is new, we're still expecting some minor bugs here and there. If you encounter any issues, please reach out to us at [email protected].

You can also reach out to us via our social media or read through our monthly newsletters for any other information.

We thank you all for your patience! 😊

Pulch acknowledges and celebrates the traditional owners and storytellers of where we create and share our stories — the Whadjuk people of Boorloo Boodjar. We thank the Country, Ancestors and Elders from the past and present who continue to guide the life of this region.

Pulch is excited to announce that after being accepted for the Youth Project Fund provided by the City of Melville, we're now in the position to print Pulch Issue Three, both digitally and in-print. 🎉

Pulch would like to thank our lovely audience, contributors, fellow art organisations and magazines, as well as the City of Melville and the Melville Youth Collective. We'll be forever grateful to everyone for this support and the opportunities it will help bring.

In this upcoming edition of Pulch, we will be exploring the theme of Change and Perseverance in WA. Our third edition allows West Australian youth to address what it means to encounter and adapt to change; instances which may or may not be out of one's control. 📝

Be sure to message us on our socials or reach out via email at [email protected] for any inquiries.

We truly can't thank everyone enough and can't wait until we get to share Pulch Issue Three with you all! 😊

❗48 HOURS LEFT TO SIGN UP❗

Pulch Mag is excited to announce that we’ll be recruiting local artists to create internal illustrations to accompany the written works that will be published in Pulch Issue Three this year! 🎉

Artists will be able to register their interest via the Pulch Issue Three: Illustration Assignments Spreadsheet linked in our bio, and have a choice of what piece to illustrate for by filling out the “illustrator” column. Artists also get to illustrate up to three pieces each. Once an artist’s registration has been verified, our Head Editor will be in contact, and they will be assigned with an author accordingly.

Please keep in mind that contributors must be aged between 16 to 26 and living in Western Australia to register. In addition, all work done for Pulch Issue Three will be unpaid and entirely volunteer work. We also advise everyone to not remove or retype any details already listed in the spreadsheet.

Illustration Specifications:

The final image size of Pulch Issue Three will be 125mm x 175mm plus 3mm bleed, 300dpi. Illustrators will be given the option to provide a full page, half-page or spot illustration. As the publication will be displayed in full colour, illustrations should also be worked on in CMYK colour format to ensure colour accuracy. Illustrators will also be required to submit jpg., png. and tiff. files of their artwork.

The Pulch Issue Three: Illustration Assignments Spreadsheet will be closing on Sunday the 5th of May at 11:59pm.

We’ll be looking forward to working with you all! 😄✨

Introducing some more new faces at Pulch Mag! 🥰✨

——

Adam Matthews is a book industry professional from Boorloo with a passion for uplifting emerging q***r voices. He joined the Fremantle Press’ sales and marketing department as a publicist in 2023. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Writing and Publishing at Curtin University and worked as a sales and marketing assistant for Boffins Books.

When she’s not editing, Mia writes, and has previously been published in Westerly and Pulch Mag. In her free time, you can find her at the gym, playing roller hockey, hiking, kayaking, rogaining, or bouldering — anything other than sitting still, unless a good book is involved.

——

Leila Marshall is a writer and editor currently studying Creative Writing and Professional Writing and Publishing at Curtin University. Previously a social media and editorial intern at Portside Review, she is currently a reviewer for the 2024 Fringe World Festival. ——

Jacki Elezovich is a third-year Journalism and Publishing student at Curtin University. She is an avid daydreamer and strong believer in the power of storytelling, with a love for everyday beauty and the natural world. While not in university classes, she can usually be found at the beach or in her local second-hand bookstore.

——

Rachel Denham-White is a first-year postgrad student with a Bachelor of Arts degree from UWA, and is currently majoring in Professional Writing and Publishing. She has written for Westerly, Limina, Voiceworks and Good Reading Magazine, and is a lover of horror, especially eco-horror, body-horror and all things gothic. When she’s not writing or editing, she can be found playing D&D.

Pulch is now accepting donations through our ko-fi page! 😄

Pulch is an independent publication run by a small and passionate group of West Australian youth. Due to financial constraints, we have temporarily switched to digital and online publication until our current situation improves. While entering this new phase, we’re looking to grow our community and develop the right platforms and financial support for young artists and writers who live in WA. 😁

As we’d eventually like to return to producing print editions and paying our contributors, we would strongly appreciate any support we can get to help keep Pulch up and running! 😊
