OH CANADA (MW-NEWS FOLLIES) – This week while the U.S. tapped into its strategic petroleum reserves to bring down gasoline prices, Canada took a similar course of action in a manner of speaking, tapping into its strategic reserves of maple syrup yes, strategic reserves of maple syrup, amid a massive global shortage of the “blond gold”. In all, Canada released 50 million pounds of maple syrup worth about $150 million on the world market. The reserve was created in 2000 and can hold up to 100 million pounds of maple syrup. 2021/11-30.
