Last year we had the pleasure of filming one of the most iconic mid-century homes in Melbourne. The Delbridge House in Eaglemont. It had been on our wish list for years and finally with the house on the market we got our chance. The Mid C now offer these 60 second marketing films to all vendors/agents about to put Mid C homes up for sale... DM me.
Finally got to walk through one of Melbourne’s most famous Modernist houses. The Reed-Mora House in Aspendale. Originally two separate houses one by McGlashan Everist the other by Peter Burns. The homes were joined as one by architect Suzanne Dance. For sale. Stunning.
Our short film on the Fooks House in Caulfield is featuring at an exhibition 'The Endless Interior : & The Biography of the Émigré' running from tomorrow till Nov 12th at the Caulfield Town Hall gallery.

Boyd's last house. He died before it was completed. Hopefully we'll be filming this for our Boyd doco and for the Mid C.
With a price guide below $1 million, the three-bedroom home features trademark oversized windows, open-plan living space and lush views out to the Dandenong Ranges.
Wow factor! 10 out of 10. One of Boyd's best! Hopefully we'll be filming this for the The Mid C soon - and for our Boyd doco!
In his 1970 book, Living in Australia, Boyd wrote:“The McClune House, 1969, near Frankston…. has a big parasol roof of steel and fibreglass sheeting in the shape of a square doughnut, supported on steel-braced timber posts independent of the structure of the rooms. These follow a compa...

Short 1min sales film going online later today and a more in-depth edit coming soon to www.themidc.com - stay tuned for links.

Robin Boyd doco call-out ... we have permission to film Boyd's legendary Jordanville shop and house (1952-54). The house is now two units. Original owner was Mr W Wood. IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANY CONNECTION TO THE WOOD FAMILY PLEASE DIRECT MSG US HERE AT TRACES FILMS. It would be amazing if Mr Wood was still around and could be interviewed OR if he had kids... interviewing them would be a close 2nd prize.

Bruce and Shari Stahl on living in the most famous midcentury modern home in the world
To film a MidC house is always a privilege. But to be invited as a guest and inhabit a MidC home for an afternoon of eating, relaxing, chatting and exploring is a whole other level.
House in Shoreham by Kevin Borland circa 1978.
My personal favourite Modernist era house. By Stuart McIntosh in Darwin. Destroyed by Cyclone Tracy.
We had the pleasure of visiting this house back in the early 2000s. We actually door knocked and visited around ten Craig Ellwood houses. That's a whole other story for another post. Robin Boyd's famous concrete shell ctesiphon residences (1954) are up for sale. They've had many lives over the decades. The accompanying supermarket still exists but is unrecognisable. A few years back I visited the site and the twin dwellings had become a yoga studio with massive bold branding. They've scrubbed up pretty well for the current sale...

It was nothing less than a mid-century tragedy when earlier this year the gorgeous 'Breedon House' in Brighton by Geoffrey Woodfall was sold and soon-after demolished. Way back in 2009 we had the pleasure of visiting the house and filming a conversation with Geoffrey (who sadly died in 2016). This film features a small part of a much longer chat with Geoffrey, some original footage and stills we took plus some B&W archival photos he gave us on the day. Folks...PLEASE visit www.themidc.com to join our mailing list on the home page - big thanks.

Mid Century design was not simply a style but a philosophical approach to building and living. It was about creating a better world, creating sensible ways to live. The simple functionality, the perfect balance of timber, glass and steel, the connection to nature all stand to remind us of what once was, and what can still be.
