This week on The Endless Files - I chat with three of Paul Rusesabagina's children, Anaise, Tresor and Carine. There's a little bit of background on my relationship/work with Paul, and then a lot of discussion about the family's perspective on their dad, focusing on his kidnapping and imprisonment in Rwanda. Please share this widely! (a video version will also be coming in the near future)

Available here, or wherever you download your podcasts!

In this episode I talk with three of Paul Rusesabagina's children, Anaise, Tresor and Carine, about the kidnapping and imprisonment of their father in Rwanda.

Update: Episode 5 is taped and I'm working through the edits right now. This episode is talking about my friend Paul Rusesabagina of Hotel Rwanda fame, who was kidnapped in late August and is still in prison on Rwanda. I'll talk with three of Paul's children about the ordeal and about their perspective on their dad and his work. This one is both an audio podcast, and I'll post video of the discussion here. Coming soon!

Dearest subscribers - I taped the first 4 episodes, and then disappeared for a bit as I realized how freaking hard and time consuming podcasting is!!! Massive props to people who do this on a weekly basis, and thanks to those of you who listened to the first 4, and have been checking in. I plan to pick up again soon.

One thought is that I may start with some "voice essays." FB has always been a creative political/social/economic/cultural outlet for me, but I know that my posts sometimes get a *bit* long for *some* people.. So I'm thinking of taping some of the longer ones that are more relevant to the issues of the day, and putting them up as brief (prob 5-10 minutes max) solo hits on the podcast.

Please chime in if you like the idea and would give it a listen. Also any ideas for topics are welcome!

Looking for students/guests! I'm swamped this week, but will tape next week on the topic of "Racism: what white Americans can do to stop it." Please let me know if you'd like to join me! This one will be back to classroom style, so I'm looking for 3 students/guests to join in for discussion and Q&A. PM or email me if interested.

In the meantime, this week's episode on racism was a long one to fill your free time, so if you haven't downloaded it yet please do! FYI, 129 downloads in the first 2 days (my best ever!), thanks to everyone who is listening in!!!!

Episode 4: "Sharing the Lived Experience: An Opportunity to Listen on Racism"

This episode is a contribution to our ongoing national conversation about racism. It is often said that white Americans need to listen more. One problem is, too many white Americans don't have close friends who are black. And if you do, you may be uncomfortable talking with them or asking questions....

This week's episode is a contribution to our ongoing national conversation about racism. It is often said that white Americans need to listen more. One problem is, too many white Americans don't have close friends who are black. And if you do, you may be uncomfortable talking with them or asking questions about race.

So I asked for volunteers, and invited three friends and former students to share their lived experiences as black Americans. They are only three perspectives among many, but their thoughts and experiences are incredibly powerful. This episode runs long, because there was such an enormous amount to share.

If you aren't able to "listen" to black voices anywhere else, I hope you take advantage of this opportunity. And if you are already tuned in, I hope you listen to these three additional perspectives.

And if you think what you hear on this episode is important, please pass it along to as many of your friends and social networks as you can.

Thanks VERY MUCH to Edet D Nsemo, Leron Norton and Princess Tarrance-Lander for joining me, and for sharing your personal, lived experiences. The conversation was extraordinary for me, and I really can't adequately express how much I appreciate your contributions.

I fell a little behind on the weekly schedule, but have just finished lining up what I hope will be a great episode. It features three guests speaking on their individual experiences with racism, taping in the next few days. Watch for it soon.

We get short reports and bits and pieces on the coronavirus every day, but sometimes it all seems like a mess. What are you supposed to think when sources contradict each other? Who do you trust? What's REALLY happening out there? And most importantly, what should we be doing now? My guest for Episo...

PLEASE SHARE THIS EPISODE WIDELY(!!!), especially if you have friends or relatives who may be a bit info challenged, or if you just want to be a part of the solution by spreading good information when you find it.

Dearest friends and followers: Episode 2 of the Endless Files is up, but it needs your help! Downloads are trailing Episode 1, and you wouldn't want the 2nd episode to have hurt feelings or anything, would you? Are you saying unemployment isn't as important as the real economy??? The raves of Ep1 keep rolling in, why not take another hour of your life for Ep2?? Is this the kind of thing that podcasters have to resort to to get more downloads?!?!? Seriously people, I knew podcasting was a "get rich slowly" plan from the start, but geesh...

When we hear about "the economy" in the news, it is usually the macro-economy, focusing on the stock market, GDP growth, inflation and unemployment. But that is really only the economy from a 10,000 ft view. The "REAL" economy is the economy as it is felt by real, everyday human beings. People who w...
