The annual Dirty Dancing Festival is coming up Sept. 13-14, a little later this year. This is the 10th anniversary and they've got some special guest this year, including Stacy Widelitz, who co-wrote and performs “She’s Like the Wind” with Patrick Swayze, and Franke Previte, who wrote the award-winning theme song “I’ve Had the Time of My Life.” Dance lessons and an outdoor screening of the film are among the highlights. A great opportunity to visit the place where "Dirty Dancing" was (partially) filmed. Practice your Like Lift!

Joedance in is one of our very favorite small . The 10th annual Joedance Film Festival, which raises money for pediatric cancer research, will run Thursday-Saturday nights, August 1-3, 2019. This year it is moving from its Fourth Ward location to the Charlotte Ballet HQ on N. Tryon.

Joedance Film Festival, including related events year-round, honors the memory of Joe Restaino by raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research at Atrium Health Levine Children's through an annual film festival featuring directors, producers, writers and actors who share a North Carolina or South Carolina connection. Joedance supports research and clinical trials for pediatric sarcomas, blastomas and brain tumors.

To date, Joedance has donated more than $170,000 for Atrium Health Levine Children’s in nine years, including $20,000 in 2018.

Joedance is also committed to raising awareness of the regional film industry by showcasing films from North and South Carolina. The Restaino family chose a film festival to honor their son because of his love of movies.

The Joedance organization hosts fundraisers for the Children's hospital year-round. There's one coming up this weekend, the Joedance Jam, Saturday, June 29 from 4-7 p.m. at Suffolk Punch in South End (2911 Griffith Street, Suite A, Charlotte, NC 28203). Live performances will include Chris Moreno of Nashville, Josey Wails Band of Charlotte and The Sammies of Charlotte. $1 from every beer sold between 4-7 p.m. will be donated to Joedance to help the organization’s fight against rare pediatric cancers.

Visit www.joedance.org for more information. Go out to help this worthy cause and meet these wonderful people.
