My images were featured exclusively by Dorling Kindersley in this publication back in the day. Bought back a lot of memories. At least 3 weeks shoot I think.

A scarf in boat woodworking terms is a way to extend a piece of wood by cutting wedges in the two pieces and glueing them together. The gradient depends on the thickness of wood. You create the gradient by sawing segments, then planing smooth. Loving learning and volunteering 🤘

Dockyard workers leaving Portsmouth Dockyard via Unicorn Gate in the 1960's🏠

Bicycles was the main mode of transport to and from work for dockyard workers in the mid 20th century and was also the best mode of transport for getting around the dockyard site itself!🚲

A trip to Battersea Power Station. Such disappointment. A building I looked at with awe and wonder all the time it stood empty and while I understand the need to make money for the developers, it’s nothing more than a temple to consumerism: total lack of inspiration and aspiration. Shame. And then there’s the rooftop garden - private only for residents. Unlikely to revisit. ❤️

⚓️Research projects on the boats in our care, including creating interpretation for our visitors.

⚓️Telling our visitors about the significance and history of small boats in the Royal Navy and building boats in Boathouses 4,5,6 and 7.
