Today, we honor the courageous and righteous legacy of , whose children and community carry his legacy forward.

It has been a privilege for us at Know Your Rights Camp to have worked closely with Ambassador Shabazz, Malcolm X’s eldest daughter, who is an invaluable contributor to our camp by sharing her stories, wisdom, and advice with our youth attendees. Know Your Rights Camp would not exist without Malcolm X’s unwavering commitment to freedom and justice for the Black community.

Today marks the birthday of Japanese-American activist . Born in Los Angeles, she was motivated by Malcolm X to become involved in the 20th-century freedom movement. Yuri was a staunch advocate for unity between Black and Asian communities. She also dedicated herself to supporting political prisoners, promoting labor rights, advocating for educational improvements, opposing war, and engaging in numerous other causes.

We raising a revolutionary over here. Baby boy already learning about banned books and speaking truth to power ❤️

thank you for this incredible children’s book!! They’ve got a wide range of age appropriate books for kids including books about pronouns, gender binaries, and so much more.

I also just finished reading ABOLITION FOR THE PEOPLE and it clarified so much for me as someone who wants to see a world where this beautiful brown boy grows up with opportunities and love, not criminalization and state sanctioned violence. The book answers age old myths that have kept policing in place for so long and also centers those most vulnerable who need a better system of public safety but don’t want to use prisons and police to do it. ITS GREAT and a must read!

Both of these books put me in the giving spirit because we have to pass down truths no matter how hard they are. I want to gift two copies of OUR HISTORY HAS ALWAYS BEEN CONTRABAND to a young activist or organizer.
