In this episode, Cathleen chats to Dr Hannah Burrow, a dentist turned tech co-founder. Hannah is the CEO and a cofounder at Kiroku. Kiroku uses AI to automate the least rewarding parts of work, and their first market is dentistry where dentists spend 25% of their day writing clinical notes. Prior to starting Kiroku three and a half years ago, she worked as a dentist, having had roles in practices, hospitals and Public Health England.

It was so great to be able to chat with Dr Costa Boyages, a former diplomat turned rural GP. I loved his thoughts on what a career path can look like and was personally so inspired by his story.

Dr Costa Boyages started his professional life as an international lawyer and Australian diplomat where he developed a passion for global health, social justice and the environment. With the dream of raising his family on the idyllic South Coast and making a more tangible difference, he went on to complete his postgraduate medical studies from Sydney University.

The diversity and dynamism of general practice lured him into this specialty of medicine. Costa is passionate about holistic, patient-centred care and believes it is the highest privilege to practice medicine in the community he loves.

💁🏻‍♀️ 2020 what a year.

It has definitely been a challenging period of time and I expect 2021 to be no different.

Reflecting back on this year, I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received on this small passion project of mine. Although it has been a little while since I’ve put something out, I’m keen to continue this podcast and keep talking to incredible people. Hopefully their stories continue to help those who need a little spark of inspiration in their lives.

In this episode I chat to Zara Lim, a ballet dancer turned lawyer turned creative business owner. Zara runs a bespoke label Edward Kwan, specialising in custom hand painted bow ties, ties and invitations, predominantly for wedding clients. Since the pandemic begun, Zara made a pivot towards making Liberty London fabric face masks.

We recorded this episode a few weeks ago and given the ever-changing nature of COVID-19 and its unfortunate rise again in Melbourne she's now had a large increase in orders for face masks.

Zara Lim is a ballet dancer turned lawyer turned creative business owner and self-taught painter. Graduating from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours, Zara worked as a intellectual property and commercial litigation lawyer at global and boutique law firms, and also served as an associate to a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria.

At the end of 2019, Zara went all in with her true passion, Edward Kwan, a bespoke label specialising in custom hand painted bow ties, ties and invitations, predominantly for wedding clients. Prior to her law career, Zara trained full-time in ballet for 7 years at the Australian Ballet School and the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School.

I remember hearing her talk about it and frantically trying to remember what I loved back then. My main takeaway from our chat was to try new things and you'll naturally figure out what you love.

Graduating from the University of Otago, Omar moved to private practice and became intensely involved in the education space, working closely with leading dental manufacturers, universities and conferences to present his work. In 2017, and in the face of adversity, he set out to start MAISON de SABRÉ, a pure-play premium leather goods brand and hasn’t looked back since. Currently based in Gold Coast, Omar has just joined the Forbes 30 under 30 List of 2020 alongside his business partner and brother, Zane.

In this one I interview Dr Aaron "Medic" Chamberlain, a doctor turned Esports commentator for League of Legends - a massively popular online game with over 100 million players worldwide.

Medic is a doctor turned freelance commentator for professional video game tournaments. After completing his medical training and working in the NHS, he moved to Berlin to pursue his passion for gaming and now works as part of the broadcast team for the League of Legends European Championship or LEC.
