Ready 4 My Close Up
I was mentored by Divine, and made my theatrical début in 1973 with the infamous Cockettes at the Palace Theater in San Francisco . I wrote and perform with "White Trash Boom Boom," and entertained the boys in gay bars and the women behind bars from 1974 -1976. I co-wrote and stared in the musical comedy, Broken Dishes, and was nominated for 'best performer in a Musical,' by The Bay Area Credits Association the same year Debbie Reynolds won the title. I wrote a critically acclaimed multi-media musical, The Last Dance of the Couch Potatoes, and played the lead at the Odysseus Theater in Los Angeles.
I’ve authored three books in the Counter Culture Diva Series: My Life, a Four Letter Word; and Blow Jobs, A Guide to Making it in Show Business, or Not!; and The Lazy Gals Guide to Success and Enlightenment by Her Holiness, the Dalai Diva.
The screenplay based on ‘My Life’ was a semi-finalist at the Austin Screenwriter’s Competition and currently I’m writing the musical based on my memoir and hope to see it play Broadway before my 80th Birthday. You can see me in TV commercials and performing with Queerwise, a senior LGBTQI collective and telling my stories in popular LA venues: Taboo Tales, Tasty Words, The Moth, Everybody Loves a Good Story, etc.......
