This morning was my 20 week baby scan (I can’t believe I’m 20 weeks already!!) 😲

I planned on coming home, having a bite to eat, then doing some networking BUT a pesky social media outage dampened my plans.

I took advantage of the time to work on the course I’m building, but this made me realize how much we rely on social media these days. Especially as entrepreneurs! But social media shouldn’t be our only source of networking and generating leads, should it? 🤨

A lot of folks will say this is why growing your email list is so important. And I agree! It is. But don’t overlook the power of podcasts...

Podcasts are a place outside of social media where you can share your insights, expertise, and position yourself as an authority. And as an added bonus, you can connect with your audience on a more personal level and start building those loyal followers outside your usual social networks.

Something important to consider when choosing intro music for your podcast: If you use music from a stock library, another podcaster can use the same track. 😳

You want your intro music to be associated with YOUR podcast and YOUR brand –– not another podcast or a random video on YouTube.

Our Lord, Jesus Christ, is at the center of everything we do –– and that includes business.

Have we worked with unbelievers? Yes.
Have we turned away projects because our values didn't align? Yes.

The content we produce for ourselves and for our clients reflects our values. If you're open to working with a couple who love God, value people over profits, rest over hustle, and operate based on our God-given gifts, we might be a good fit.

On our discovery call she told me that she literally prayed, "God, if you want me to launch this podcast, you're going to have to send me someone who knows what they're doing!!"

Within a week of that prayer we were connected.

You're boiling the kettle in the kitchen when you hear the instantly recognisable "Ta Dum" echoing in the other room. You know exactly what's happening when you hear that sound... your husband is getting a Netflix series ready for you to watch.

Even as you're reading this, I bet you can almost hear that sound and see the Netflix logo unveiling itself on the screen.

We don't even have Netflix, but I would know what that sound is.

This is audio branding.

Your brand has visual branding – your colours, your logo, your go-to fonts. Well, audio branding is similar, but with sound. And it's powerful!

With the right song or jingle, all it takes is a few notes for someone to know they're about to tune into YOUR podcast or YouTube channel, or even an ad for your brand.

Adding a custom track to your podcast can not only make it stand out, but it can boost your brand as a whole.

Two years ago today wrote “Lean Forward” — the track that landed him his first podcast intro commission:

"I was doing research on different composers that do commissions for custom tracks and came across yours on Google. I ended up listening to a few samples of each person I found and went with the one whose tracks sounded most similar to what we’re looking for in terms of layering/and multiple instruments. In your case it was Lean Forward that caught my attention."

A bit of a wild story…

If you've noticed the spelling of my first name has changed and are wondering why... well, let me tell you.

After Billy and I were baptized, our friend Mark (the man who baptized us) told me that the Lord wanted me to add an 'h' to my name. Mind you, we had only recently met at the time and he had no idea that I didn’t have an ‘h’ in my name.

This was on my mind for a while so I asked Mark about it at a later date. He said he heard the Lord say that He wants me to add an 'h' like Sarai did in order to be fruitful. But he said to pray about it and have my own conversation with the Lord.

A few weeks ago I asked the Lord to confirm the change and it was either the next day or a few days later I saw my confirmation on the explore page — swipe to see!!).

That's it. That's my confirmation. I can't lie, it feels weird. I've been "Sara" for nearly 35 years. But if it's what the Lord wants for me, then it's what I have to do. 😘

Bill is working on covering an album of hymns and he said something that struck me...

"There are so many versions of these songs, and everyone uses the same recipe, but you want yours to be different. It's a tried-and-tested formula, but you have to put your own spin on it."

Sometimes we get SO hung up on the fact that someone else is doing the same thing as us (guilty!!). Maybe they offer the same services, post similar content, or have a podcast about the same topics.

The thing is, whether you're a coach, author, musician, chef, or podcaster... We all follow similar recipes and use similar ingredients, but that's okay because they work! What makes the difference is who we are.

Even if we use the EXACT SAME ingredients, ours never come out the same as someone else's.

If you are holding yourself back from writing a book, starting a business, or launching a podcast because of comparisonitis, don't give in to that!

You don't have to be different; you just have to be you.

Remember, you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

God has set aside specific people for you to help; you just need to take action and trust Him. He can't direct you if you're not moving. 😉
