Thanks for sharing Solutions Journalism Network! :) We loved having David on!
Media biases exist, but it's not as simple as party lines. The journalism industry as a whole is frequently biased towards problems, reporting disproportionately on what's wrong and broken. We're also biased toward extremes, often finding the two most conflicting opinions and pitting them against each other as though they represent everyone. But that emphasis - on conflict above repair, on suffering over progress - often unintentionally stokes those things. Our co-founder David Bornstein recently appeared on the Conversations Matter Podcast to discuss his journey to solutions journalism, and how journalists can cut through the noise to help rebuild communities.
